Hot take: Merry Christmas Kirito isn’t that sad

every time i see that damn audio used the whole comment section is in tears lmao. the scene IS sad don’t get me wrong, but we had only known the moonlight black cats for like 20 minutes by the time they died. I understand that dosent make it any less painful for kirito, but i just think there wasn’t enough time to spend with them. if it had been an alice in borderland situation (meaning we had the characters together for a while) , i think it would be one of the hardest hitting scenes in any anime.

I hate the words “Larp” and “Media Literacy”

THIS POST WAS ORIGINALLY MEANT FOR THE ANIME SUBREDDIT, SO THATS WHY I TALK ABOUT ANIME

I’m sure there are people who will disagree with me on this, but i wish we could erase these words from existence.

I have pretty good book smarts for someone my age. I got into a good college, got a 1360 on the SAT without studying a single second, and have a 4.4 weighted gpa. That being said, for some reason I have a hard time catching minor details when watching movies, shows, or anime. I often find myself confused at the beginning of a lot of movies, and ask others to explain for me where we are. I also tend to forget something i read the minute i finish reading that sentence, when reading a book. it’s not that i don’t pay attention, this is just how it’s always been for me.

This brings me to my main point. Many people like me may miss a certain detail when watching an anime, or misunderstand something when seeing it for the first time. We go to reddit, or whatever site, and ask questions, only to be met with comments using their new favorite buzzwords, “Media Literacy”, and “Larp”. Maybe i’m just being sensitive, but when someone is confused and clearly WANTS TO KNOW details that they have missed. Why are some people saying they are “larping”? It truly pisses me off, and it’s kinda like underground artists in a way. Their own fans get so heated when other people take a liking to their music, and they call them “newgens”. Like GOD FORBID a talented artist gets recognition for their art.

Now i want to talk about “media literacy”. when someone interprets a scene differently than you, it doesn’t mean that they have no media literacy. I see this word get thrown around multiple times a day on the Internet, and it’s mostly used against people who want to understand. The anime community has a beautiful side, but the ugly side is exceptionally ugly. Imagine someone discovers an anime they really love for the first time, but doesn’t understand something, so they go ask a question about it and get met with insults to their intelligence.

honestly, i don’t give a damn if they DONT have any “media literacy”. Since the people who love to throw that word around seem to be experts on it, why not use that opportunity to help someone understand something instead of making them feel stupid, when they could’ve been nervous about the question in the first place.

My last point - yes, both of these words mean something and can be used correctly sometimes, but I feel that they have done an exceedingly amount more harm than good.

Is it ever OK to accept compliments?

From what I understand, when someone compliments you in Chinese culture you are supposed to politely say something like “oh no it’s just ok”. I do understand this, but does it ever get to a point to where if someone continues to compliment you on the same thing where you are supposed to accept it or do you just have to keep denying?

I watched season one of the show in like 2019, and I started gun gale online, but never finished it. Now I’m re-watching everything and I just finished season two episode six, and kirito keeps getting touchy with Sinon. Please no spoilers or anything, but can y’all just please tell me if he does any sort of cheating in this show? If he does I’m just gonna drop it. I’ve heard people say it sort of becomes a harem, which I don’t really want, but it won’t bother me as long as kirito stays faithful.
