Genuinely confused between ENT and surgery
Help me out guys, really confused between ENT and surgery.
What I don't understand is why ENT gets so much hate. It seems like a perfectly balanced branch to me, with both OPD and surgical exposure and a good work-life balance.
I agree surgery and medicine eat up a lot of your patients, but building a career in India is all about developing a niche. Most branches have no clear demarcation anymore, and everyone is trying to encroach on each other's patients. Example being Geriatrics, emergency medicine and family medicine are all things general medicine can handle, and IR is already taking a lot of surgical cases. Minimally invasive surgery is clearly the future too.
Would love to hear from people in either branch. Am I missing something about ENT?
