Think I’m getting sick 4 days before sinus surgery

I finally have my sinus surgery scheduled for Thursday after waiting a long time, and now I think I’m getting sick.

Since yesterday I’ve had a runny nose, a headache and I’ve been feeling pretty tired. My wife wasn’t feeling great earlier this week and my kid has been coughing, so I’m worried I caught whatever they had.

I have my pre-op appointment on Tuesday and now I’m stressing about whether they’ll cancel or postpone the surgery.

Right now I don’t have a sore throat and I’m not coughing much, but it’s still early.
Has anyone here gotten a cold just a few days before sinus surgery? What happened in your case? Did they still go ahead with it or postpone it?

34M, chronic sinus issues for years, surgery scheduled but symptoms improved – would you still do it?

I've had facial pressure (especially around the nose and under the eyes), headaches, fatigue/brain fog and recurring sinus problems for several years. CT showed a nasal polyp plus structural issues (deviated septum / enlarged turbinates), and my ENT recommended surgery.

The dilemma: surgery is scheduled for July, but over the last couple of weeks I've actually felt somewhat better. I still get pressure next to the nose and occasional facial pain, especially when tired, after intense exercise, heat, sauna, or sometimes after a cold. But it's no longer as bad as during the worst periods.

Part of me wants to postpone until September and enjoy the summer (swimming, rehab for my back, etc.). Another part thinks I've probably had this problem for years and should just get it over with.

Has anyone had a similar situation where symptoms improved before surgery? Did you still go ahead with it, and was it worth it? Looking back, would you have postponed or just done it?

Also I am supplementing with Vitamin D and go outside, and Summer promises to be very hot, which makes nasal surgery recovery a bit worse.
