Does our investment make a difference to the company?

If I were to invest £100 (or $100) in an ETF like the FTSE 100 or S&P 500, does that realistically make much difference to the growth of the companies in that ETF? I imagine not, but maybe $100,000 or 1 million dollars would?

I ask because I'm wondering if I should consider whether I'm happy to support these companies. But perhaps it barely makes a difference for them (since I don't have loads to invest), while it might make a big difference for my bank account.

Sorry if a dumb question.

Lost every friend from uni

This is a bit of a vent post. My friendships during uni were the best things to ever happen to me after having a pretty miserable/traumatising school life. We were a whole group and, naively, I thought some of us would remain friends for decades to come.

A lot happened after that. I went into a trauma response I didn't understand, and the friend group imploded. My best friend withdrew from me and their girlfriend is their new number one. I also ended two friendships - one bc he revealed himself to be a bit of a dick, and the other bc he changed once he got a girlfriend. I moved abroad and took a long while to make real friends, only to fall unwell with health issues that kept me house-bound and isolated. I had to move back home to recover where I know no one. I'm also too unwell to work. Now even my only two friends from school who are back in my area recently are too busy to meet me. Nothing against them. Just adulthood I guess.

I've basically been isolated for years now, except for some brief surface level friends and some long distance phone calls. Time moves so slowly because I'm never doing anything. I never expected adulthood to be this hard. But when I look around at all the people I know, no one seems to be in the same boat. Plus I'm a major extravert. I've never been more jealous of introverts in my life bc this has killed me 😅

Has anybody else experienced similar? Come out the other side?
