Pretty sure it’s old…but thinking not ancient! (USA)

This came from a miscellaneous lot at an online estate sale that just indicated a it included a couple of arrowheads and some stones….this was not pictured and I guess was just one of the “stones”. The sale included many 19th century items from a wealthy family in which “grand tours” to Europe were a thing. So I am thinking it may have been a souvenir from one of those tours. It is definitely solid stone but not sure what kind. It is smooth on the back so appears to be from a flat slab between 5/8” and 3/4” thick. Can anyone provide insight into origin and age? Or any other information? Those folks took their collecting seriously but not sure if it was a very nice replica made in the 19th century, something possibly older, or none of the above. Thank you!

Picking up where I left off - pcs 13 and 14

Hi all, this is my first post in a couple of weeks as I was on a business trip among other distractions! But as I really appreciated what I learned from this community, I’d like to continue to share what my wife and I found at an estate sale. There are some more condition issues here as we’re getting to the bottom of a container where they’ve been stored for a very long time. For those who have mentioned in the past, yes we will be taking these to a textile museum or guild when our travels take us close. In the meantime, I will continue to value any insight you can provide with respect to origin, type, age, use, etc. piece 13 is about 4.5” wide by about 5 feet long. I am assuming it’s intended to be trim but any particular application? Piece 14 appears to be another small collar but is different than the others in the lot. It’s just a bit over 12” in height. Thank you!

Pieces 11 & 12 from estate sale

Hi all, since I knew nothing about lace to begin with, pieces 11 & 12 are for sure puzzling to me. 11 was at one time quite a long piece of 2” wide edge/trim that is in my opinion beautiful. There are now two short sections and the longer piece has an angle, a loop, and some kind of rosette maybe stitched into it? Piece 12 reminds me of the lace bonnets/caps you see in period movies? 🤷 Thoughts?

Pieces 9 & 10 from estate sale

There are quite a few pieces in this lot, enough for a few more days of this I think, and I continue to appreciate the insight shared! These two are clearly not collars, and are kind of on different ends of the scale with respect to size and…..daintiness maybe? I didn’t include the tape measure on number 10, but it’s about 1.5” x 18” long

Pieces 7 & 8 from estate sale - collars?

Hi all, so I would guess both of these are collars of some type, but piece 7 is continuous and somewhat smaller than the others I’ve posted. I neglected to include the tape measure in the pic but the total “vertical” measurement is ~16” while the neck opening is only 10”. Maybe for a child? #8 is the opposite and is the largest piece so far that is shaped like a collar. As always, please share any information or insight you have!!

Copper Relief - United States

Hi all! First time posting here. This came from a miscellaneous lot at an estate sale. It appears to be a copper stamping or electrotype as it weighs only around 0.5 lb but is still a rigid sheet, not flimsy. From what I’ve been able to find, it would have been made of course after the 1820 date in the relief but still highly likely to still be in the 1850’s - 1880’s range. Is there anyone out there that can comment to verify or not, or add any more information regarding likely age, purpose, and rarity? Or any other insight would be welcome!

Numbers 5 & 6 from estate sale!

I will space them out more if needed, just let me know! These are two of the largest pieces from the lot. The first pic of the first piece is not great, just for scale. The second piece, the black lace is about 16” wide and 5’ long. I am assuming from what I’ve learned so far that this is an example of appliqué work, but would as always appreciate any insight anyone can share, and for sure including purpose. We thought this lot might be kind of special, I appreciate the help in confirming it! More to come….

#3 and #4 pcs from estate sale

Hi everyone, and thank you for the comments and feedback from my first post, much appreciated! I will continue to share and ask for your help with identification and any insight you care to offer. Below is the link to the first post if you haven’t seen it.

First, what are they? The first one may still be a collar but it seems kind of large. There are a couple of metal snaps/clips that maybe were added later? Or could they be original? You can see one in a detail picture. I would again appreciate any information you can provide with respect to origin, age, type, or other!

Antique collars from an estate sale

Hi all! I have zero expertise in lace, so I am asking this community for a little guidance. I think my wife and I were fortunate to have purchased a few lots recently from a local estate sale that includes some beautiful examples. The attached pictures are from a package that a woman on a European tour with her husband mailed to herself from Florence Italy to a hotel in The Hague in 1911. There are more, but I will start with these. Can you please tell me more about them, do they come from that timeframe or from earlier? Do they appear to be handmade? We are interested to learn more and would appreciate anything you can tell us!

First ever post! AI tells me this doesn’t exist, but what is it then?

Hi all, I bought this a few years ago out of a bowlful of tokens and pins in a booth in a Nebraska antiques mall. I had read The Devil in the White City many years ago and was familiar with the HH Holmes connection. I couldn’t find anything on it then, however, so held on to it and forgot about it. I recently re-found it looking for something else, and thought that maybe AI can find something for me…..only it can’t, not even to tell me it was faked as a souvenir after the book was published. The patina certainly appear legit, can you good folks help me out here? The reverse is blank, just a price tag from the booth referencing the 1893 Fair.
