Hospitalized for hypocalcemia

My partner had a thyroidectomy one week ago (9/28), along with over 70 lymph nodes removed. His parathyroids were not removed. In regard to the surgery recovery, he’s doing fabulous. However, he is still in the hospital 7 days later for hypocalcemia - with no anticipated discharge date. He’s on Tums and calcitriol, plus an IV drip of calcium. He’s also been given magnesium. His oral medications have been unchanged; the dr noted he’s on max doses for oral.

Early on in his stay they were stopping the drip and his ionized calcium tanked. The endo then recommended tapering the drip…basically blood draws every 3-6 hours, and as long as his ionized calcium was within range they could decrease the drip. Tapering has been going well, and last night they made the decision to stop the drip and see what happened. Again, it tanked.

We are both feeling really frustrated. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Every day we are hoping he can finally be discharged but we find out every day it’s not happening.

La Silla

Is La Silla adults only? Online it says they are adults only for dinner, but in some FB groups and even a few comments here people have noted that it’s not. When reserving via the app, there is no description specifying but when you select the number of people it does say “Adult Guests.”

I have a 13 and 16 year old - I’m fine not bringing them if it’s adults only, just want to clarify before I make a reservation.

Hoping we didn't make a mistake

My family of 4 is visiting in a month and I am getting very nervous the more I read about the resort. Many people agree that the actual resort and parks are fun, especially for kids/teens, but I am seeing a lot of comments that are concerning regarding customer service and other issues - such as the air conditioning in rooms not working well even when the balcony doors are shut, getting sick, etc. I can deal with sub-par customer service but my family will not be able to sleep in a room that is 78 degrees and hot, lol, and if we all come down with an illness and are stuck in a hot room with only one bathroom - that seems miserable. We are an "AC on 65-68 degrees" family.

We are not novice travelers and have been to many countries including almost every island in the Caribbean - but I do have anxiety and am a bit of a germaphobe. Illness and heat trigger my anxiety (yes, I know - August is a terrible time for heat but we travel annually in August to a tropical destination, including Mexico, and my solace has always been that the AC is typically amazing and I also jump in the water).

I am hoping we didn't make a mistake by booking. My teens are so excited, and if I cancel they will be incredibly disappointed. My expectations are pretty much on the floor...
