Is this too busy?

I will be arriving at noon on 7/4 and will be departing on 7/11. This will be a family trip with our 2 children (11 & 9). Does this itenary look good to see most things but not be too busy? Also, would you recommend adding Tulum to the XelHa day (we go to Xichen the following day). Looking at using the remainder of 7/4 to explore the grounds, spectacular dinner on 7/5. 7/10 is currently wide open before flying out on 7/11.

Trying to figure out if this is good for the kids as well as us.

3 days/2 nights enough?

If we go 3 days/2 nights, would that be enough to do most everything? Traveling with 2 boys ages 9 and 12. Or should we stay 3 nights?

Xcaret- Food poisoning

So our family just checked out (May 31-June 6). On June 2, 2026, my son (7) got food poisoning. At first I thought it may have been the buffet at Xplor and chocked it up to him eating too many chicken wings for lunch. For dinner we ate at a restaurant on the resort and he had short ribs. By 2am he started showing symptoms (diarrhea).

On June 4, 2026, my wife and I both got food poisoning. She has a special diet ( gluten free) and neither of us had the same food. That morning we ate at a restaurant (las playas) for breakfast and skipped lunch. Her and I had completely different drinks at the pool bar. She drank more than I did, and I just had little.

By 6:30pm as we were getting ready to go to dinner my wife started having symptoms (diarrhea and later vomiting). she told us to go on without her and so the kids and I went to dinner ( Chi). Dinner was fine we went back to the room. Then I went to Xplor Fuego for a quick swim in the caves.

I got back at 11:00pm and decided to treat myself to two tacos al pastor from the late night taco bar on the resort. By the time I walked from the taco bar to my room on the other side of the resort I started feeling symptoms. As soon as I made it to the room I had to make a mad dash for the toilet (diarrhea).

Today June 6, 2026, we leave. My son recovered from his symptoms after a day and was able to eat again with no upset stomach though he was still having diarrhea.

My wife has been the worse and has not eaten anything substantial since she got sick And continues to have diarrhea it seems hourly. My symptoms are somewhere in the middle of my wife and sons. I only ate dinner yesterday and only had to use the bathroom once throughout the night. I decided to skip breakfast this morning.

Oh the crazy part is when my wife got sick on Thursday she went to the souvenir shop for Pepto-Bismal. By the time I went back Friday night to pick up some more the lady said she was completely out of the liquid bottles and only had chew tablets left. So clearly we were not the only ones suffering.

Beautiful report. But the fact that 3 of us got sick never having eaten the same foods tells me I doubt I’ll be coming back. Wish us luck on the plane ride. It’s going to be very interesting.

EDIT: My wife and I did have two cups of water from the pool bar from the pool bar so maybe that was the common thread. Although my daughter never got symptom.

Booking with Expedia (Arte)

I am not seeing many posts about booking with Expedia, which gets me a bit confused. All I see is people booking with Costco but I currently have my trip from Aug 30 - Sept 3 booked (5 days / 4 nights) through Expedia and it was at least $500 cheaper than Costco…

Can anyone relate with Expedia bookings?

Visiting Xcaret Park please help with what I planned out!

So far I have been doing some research. I have compiled a thought out route of the park for the day. We booked the Xcaret Park Plus for reference.

Starting: white route visiting Discover Mexico, the small coffee and bakery, St Francis, the cemetery, the Ballgame Court, Stain Glass Plaza, the Artisan Village, the Butterfly Pavilion, the Aviary, and ending with the Jaguar Island.

Second: starting the bottom part of the black route all the way up to the Xcaret Plus area. We would leave our things at the lockers since its covered in the plus. Go toward the river entrance and only send down our wallets, a towel, sunglasses, spf, a bag, and light clothes in the lock bag they give to be picked up at the end. We will take the river route on the right because there is more open air times than the left side.

Third: at the exit of the river we will go to the natural pools for a bit. We will eat at the Veracruz buffet (please let me know if that a good option from the buffets) and afterwards chill at the beach area for a little.

Fourth: we will walk to the Xcaret Plus area freshen up and change and do the blue route.

Lastly: we will head over down the brick route towards the pavilion to enjoy the show before heading out.

Is this a good option or is to much or not doable? We will be arriving at the park by 8:30 am leaving at 9pm in the buses. Thank you!!

Help! Xcaret Mexico Destination Wedding

I am planning my daughter’s wedding at this resort. I continue to submit an inquiry on their site but receive errors. I sent an email three days ago to an info type email-no response. When I search online I just continue to get outside companies trying to get me to book through them. I also cannot just find links to wedding packages. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? I need to get the ball rolling.

Just checked out. Anyone else have this bad of experience?

the rooms weren’t as nice as expected. We had a broken tv the first 3 days and I had to end up fixing it myself. We called them and explained but they did not know what was wrong. The tv is the center hub for guests and we had no access to it at all.

We had loud belligerent neighbors and the staff only knocked on their door the first time we called even though they continued to make noise through the night around 2am-3am.

Our soap dispensers were missing pieces that were needed to actually dispense the soap, for a luxury hotel this place is lacking heavily.

Food was amazing. Pools are great. And the drinks are a hit with amazing views and art work around the property.

They need to really take guest request for repairs seriously considering the amount of money we spend. We were not given a new room and requests were ignored. The door locks for the balcony and front door were very loose and felt as if they’re about ready to pop off.

Restaurant recs for Xcaret Arte

My husband and I are staying at Arte for 11 nights. We’d love to hear from people who have stayed and dined there which restaurants are worth visiting a second time and which ones are good for one visit just to try, but we’re most curious about the restaurants with an up-charge.

We asked guest services about Kibi Kibi (we’re not staying in Casa Artistas or a top suite) and they said we could reserve there for an up-charge, so we’re considering it. We’re also considering doing their “romantic dinner” package, but we’re nervous that you’re paying more for the private location than the quality of food. We’d probably do one over the other, so which of the two is more worth it? (We do plan on going to Le Chique and Xaak regardless, so we’re deciding if Kibi Kibi or the romantic dinner will be our third up-charge option.)

Also, we’ve seen on YouTube that you can dine at the Xcaret by Mexico experience in their Espectacular show, but there’s no way to reserve a spot for that. Any tips and tricks on how to get in there for the dining experience would be appreciated 🙏

Thank you in advance!

Itinerary Suggestions/Feedback

We're going in July for 6 nights with an almost 5 year old and almost 3 year old. It is my 40th birthday celebration as well. My thought is to not make any restaurant reservations given my kid's ages. Is that a good call?

As for parks, I would like to go to Xcaret Park one day. Is it too much to also go to Xel-Ha one day? I see that is a set departure and return time so if we're miserable there, then we're stuck?

While at Xcaret Park, should we try for the Espectacular show?

Any other tips would be much appreciated! If you say "just stay at the resort and soak it in," I'm not completely opposed to that.

Staying at the Arte. Husband and I land at 1:00pm. How can we maximize our first day? I don’t want to overwhelm myself exploring on our first day.

The Ultimate Xcaret Park Day-Trip Guide (booking/transportation/prices/tips/etc.)

The Ultimate Xcaret Park Day-Trip Guide

Date I went: May 31, 2026

After spending way too many hours piecing together scattered info before our own trip, I wanted to write the guide I wish I'd had. This is a start-to-finish walkthrough of a day trip to Xcaret Park near Cancún — how to book your tickets for the lowest price, what to pack (and what to skip), how the morning pickup and transportation work, how to navigate the park and the underground rivers, what to expect at the Xcaret México Espectacular night show, and even à la carte food prices inside the park. Hopefully it saves you some money and a lot of guesswork.

-----TL;DR-----

  • Cheapest booking: Buy directly on the Xcaret website at least 7+ days out to get the early bird discount, then stack promo code XCFUT. Comes to $161.25/person (admission + transport + lunch). Order matters — add to cart with a date that's already 7+ days away, or the code won't apply.
  • Booking a few days out instead? Download the Viator app, make a new account, and use code 15APPONLY (15% off, $100 min) on "Xcaret Park Day Trip" → $182.75/person. The code may not apply in-app; if so, call Viator at +1 (888) 651-9785 and book by phone.
  • Basic vs Plus ticket: We did Basic and skipped the buffet. They don't check bags, so bring your own food. For the underground rivers, staff at the Red locker area give you a lockable waterproof duffle (you keep the key) and your bag is waiting at the river exit — no locker upgrade needed.
  • Pack: food/snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, refillable water bottle, portable charger, change of clothes + towels (towels aren't free). Don't buy gear in the park's gift shop — the markup is brutal.
  • Night show (Xcaret México Espectacular): Starts 7:00 PM, runs to 9:00 PM. Get there by 5:45 PM for good lower-section seats.
  • Return bus leaves ~9:40 PM and drops you directly at your hotel (~1.5 hr ride).

-----Booking-----

Option 1: Xcaret website (best price)

If you know well in advance (more than 7 days out) exactly which day you're going, buy your tickets directly through the Xcaret website to get the early bird / "PRECOMPRA INTERNET MOVIL XCARET" discount, and stack it with the promo code XCFUT. Look for "Xcaret: Admission + Activities."

Important — the order you do this in matters: The XCFUT promo code will only apply if the date you select is more than 7 days away when you add the ticket to your cart. If you select a date less than 7 days away, add it to your cart, and then change the date to one further out, you'll see the early bird discount appear — but you will not be able to redeem the XCFUT code.

Early Bird Price: $134.10 admission + $32.40 transportation + $27 lunch buffet = $193.50, dropping to $161.25 per person with code XCFUT.

This is your best option, and I wish someone had told me this when I was planning. This early bird price is almost certainly the lowest you'll find. But if you manage to find it cheaper than what I've described here, please share!

If you book less than 7 days before your visit, you'll pay full price:

Normal Price: $149 admission + $36 transportation + $30 lunch buffet = $215 per person

A note on Basic vs Plus (the buffet debate)

There's a lot of online debate about whether to upgrade for the lunch buffet (Basic vs Plus ticket). We went with the Basic ticket, and for us it was the right call, for two reasons:

  1. They don't check your bags when you enter the park, so we brought sandwiches, snacks, and waters from the hotel to eat throughout the day.
  2. We didn't need a locker because we wanted to walk around with our stuff.

You might be thinking, "But what about the underground rivers — what do I do with my stuff?" Great question, and here's what no one tells you online: when you reach the River Entrance (location #8), head to the Red locker area where you grab your life vest. There are workers with waterproof duffle bags. You put your stuff in, they lock it, and they hand you the key. At the river's exit, your bag is waiting — just give them your duffle bag number, and they'll grab it and unlock it right in front of you. No locker upgrade needed.

I'm flagging this because the prices I quoted above include the Plus upgrade. Everything is a bit cheaper if you just don't select "Add food and drinks" on the Xcaret website (or choose Basic instead of Plus on Viator — more on that next).

Option 2: Third-party (Viator)

Besides the Xcaret website, you can book through a third party like Groupon or Viator. (When I say "third party," the actual transportation and "experience" are still run by Grupo Xcaret — the official Xcaret staff.)

The sticker price of admission is the same as the website's normal price, but there's a 15% discount for new users who download and create an account on the Viator mobile app. After signing up, within a few minutes you'll see a banner at the bottom of the app: "15% discount with code 15APPONLY, minimum spend $100."

Find the experience called "Xcaret Park Day Trip, transportation and Cultural Night Show." It should show the same as the website's normal price: $215 per person. Select your date, your pickup point (your hotel), and apply the promo code for a final price of $182.75 per person. Not as cheap as the early bird option, but still good if you're booking just a couple of days out and didn't know your exact date until the last minute.

Heads up: For me, the 15APPONLY code wouldn't apply at checkout in the app, so I had to call Viator and book over the phone.

Just mention that you downloaded the app, made a new account, and got a notification for 15% off your next purchase. They'll ask you to confirm the code (15APPONLY); they'll say they have a matching internal code and can apply it while booking by phone. (I'm not sure how or whether they verify that you made a new account, but just quickly make one so Viator doesn't pull the deal if this post gets a lot of attention.)

For the phone booking, they'll ask for your first name, last name, and email, then switch to a "secure mode" where they prompt you to type your credit card number and CVV via the phone keypad rather than saying them aloud. I was hesitant, so I recorded the call just in case — but I can confirm I was charged exactly what the operator quoted, with no issues whatsoever.

Once booked, you'll get a confirmation email from Viator. For us, about 1 day before the event we got an email/app message from Grupo Xcaret confirming the pickup location (our hotel) and time (6:45 AM for us — it may shift slightly depending on your hotel).

-----What to Pack-----

Essentials

  • Food/snacks — As mentioned, they don't check bags, so if you're on the Basic ticket (no buffet), stock up for the day. If you're at an all-inclusive hotel, you can usually ask your food service for food to go, which is what we did.
  • Sunscreen — Online it says you need reef-safe / biodegradable sunscreen. I'm not condoning ignoring that, but they didn't check our sunscreen or make us wash it off before the underground rivers.
  • Sunglasses — You'll want these. No reason to squint all day and end up with sore eyes.
  • Refillable water bottle — There are free refill stations throughout the park. Preferably get one with a wide lid, since you can ask most food/concession stands for ice and they'll add it to your bottle.
  • Portable charger — Between the ride there, photos/videos in the park, recording the night show (Xcaret México Espectacular), and using your phone on the ride back, your battery will likely run low. For reference, I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max with good battery health, and I was at 10% by the time I got back to the hotel.
  • Change of clothes / towels — After a day in the water you'll definitely want a fresh outfit. Even if you skip the water, you'll be sweaty enough to want to change. Note that towels are NOT free — you'll have to pay for them, so bring a few (we took some from our hotel).

Nice-to-Have

  • Water shoes — After you drop your belongings at the Red section, you walk a short distance to the river entrance, so having water shoes you can take into the river is nice.
  • Waterproof sealable phone case + lanyard — Useful if you want your phone in the water. I just used two Ziploc bags and that worked fine in a pinch.
  • Goggles — You can rent goggles/snorkel/fins at the river, but honestly don't waste your money — there's nothing that special to see, and you don't need fins to move around. I did wish I'd brought a simple pair of eye-only goggles just to see how deep some sections were, out of curiosity.

One warning: When you first enter the park, you walk into a massive gift shop. You can buy most of these items there, but expect an insane markup. I can't recall exactly, but I think a two-pack of waterproof phone cases with lanyards was around $60 USD (vs. ~$10 on Amazon for the same two-pack), and water shoes I bought at Marshalls for $10 before the trip were around $60 in the gift shop. I do not recommend buying this kind of gear there.

-----Morning Pickup + Entering the Park-----

As mentioned, after booking (and selecting your hotel), about 1 day before your trip you'll get a message from Grupo Xcaret (we booked through Viator so we received a message through the app itself and email. I imagine if you book directly through the Xcaret website the communication would either be either through email or phone) with your morning pickup time. It varies by hotel, but for reference, we stayed at the Sun Palace Cancun and pickup was at 6:45 AM.

At 6:45 AM a white van pulled up outside the main lobby where they said they'd meet us, and the driver asked for our names to verify. The van holds about 8–10 people. Depending on your stop, they may pick up more people along the way, or just drive straight to the meeting spot before heading to the park.

From there, we drove to a parking lot that seemed specific to Xcaret. After we got out, the driver confirmed everyone's identity again and put the entry wristband directly on our wrists (it should have your name on it). Then he had everyone line up again to board a large Xcaret Park bus that takes you directly to the park. This drive was about an hour.

Once you arrive, the bus guide groups everyone up and walks you to the park entrance. You'll scan the barcode on your wristband to enter — and just like that, you're in (starting in the gift shop).

-----Navigating the Park-----

I don't really have an optimal route, and honestly I'm not sure one exists, but here's roughly what we did. You can also download the Xcaret app for a map of the park.

Start with the white trail and knock out those attractions (Jaguar Island, Butterfly Pavilion, Aviary, etc.). After this you'll be hot and probably hungry, so we stopped in any cool spot we found to eat the food we'd brought and rest.

Next, head to the Underground River (#8 on the map). To have your belongings sent to the river's exit (#23) for pickup when you finish, go toward the Red locker section. Straight ahead you'll see workers with duffle bags. Put your belongings in, and they'll lock it and hand you the key on a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck in the river. Then keep walking, grab a life vest, and follow the crowd to the river entrance.

There are two river paths, both leading to the same exit — one on the left and one on the right. I suggest doing both over the course of the day, since cooling off in the river feels great when you're hot:

  • Right path: Roughly a 50/50 mix of open air and underground.
  • Left path: Mostly underground. It's not pitch black, but it does get fairly dark through the middle of the cave, though the water has lights at some points so you can always see where you're going.

I suggest the right path your first time and the left path later in the day.

After you exit, follow the crowd to grab your belongings (all duffle bags are behind the counter — just tell staff your number). Right next to pickup there's a small gift shop/snack place where you can buy snacks for about $3–$10 USD. (More in the Pricing section below.)

We hung out at the beach for a bit, then walked the green and blue trails (skipping the aquarium). Then we returned to the Underground River and did it again via the left entrance. After exiting the second time, we cleaned off, changed clothes, and headed to the aquarium — it was cooler inside, and we wanted to stay cool before the Xcaret México Espectacular.

-----The Xcaret México Espectacular-----

The show officially starts at 7:00 PM, but if you want your pick of seats, get there by 5:45 PM. The stadium has a lower and upper section with open seating (aside from reserved spots for paying customers). By around 6:30 PM, the entire lower section (the better seating) was taken.

I suggest sitting near the inner stairway of the lower section — sometimes performers walk down the stairs as part of the act, or perform on the small platforms along the longer side of the stage within the seating area. There's a concession stand outside the stadium selling snacks like popcorn and nachos.

The show runs until 9:00 PM. Afterward, head back to where the driver dropped you off at the start. You'll see lines leading to the Xcaret Park buses; staff will ask your name and hotel and have you scan your wristband, then direct you to the right bus (if you're unsure, just ask). This bus leaves around 9:40 PM, but try to board by 9:25 PM to be safe. Unlike the morning, the bus took us directly to our hotel (no transfer to a smaller van). The ride back took about an hour and a half.

And that's it. Once you're back at the hotel, take a moment to enjoy how well you planned your Xcaret day trip — then get some sleep, because you'll be exhausted.

-----Conclusion-----

That's the full rundown of our Xcaret Park day trip. The single biggest takeaway: book early on the Xcaret website with code XCFUT if you can, since it's by far the cheapest route. If you're booking last-minute, the Viator app deal is a solid backup. Beyond that, the Basic ticket plus your own food and the waterproof duffle trick saved us money without sacrificing anything, and packing smart (especially a portable charger and your own towels) made the long day much smoother.

It's a long but incredible day — plan ahead, pace yourself, and don't blow your money in the gift shop. If you've found better deals or have tips of your own, drop them in the comments so everyone benefits.

Enjoy Xcaret!

Sofa bed size in Junior Suite- is it big enough for 2 teen boys? (not Arte)

Hi everyone! Going next month. As title says- I’m having a hard time learning the size of the sofa bed in the junior suite. Any insight would immensely appreciated by 2 teen boys who will be sharing.

Xplor or Xplor Fuego?

My boyfriend (24M) and I (23F) are going to Cancún next month for the first time and I’m trying to decide whether we should do Xplor during the day or Xplor Fuego at night.

From what I can tell, they seem to be almost the same park and activities (zip lines, amphibious vehicles, caves, underground rivers, etc.), but I’m wondering if one experience is better than the other. Is the nighttime atmosphere at Fuego really worth choosing over the daytime experience?

Also, for anyone who’s been, did you purchase the photo package? Was it worth the cost, or did you feel like you got enough pictures with your own phone?

I’d love to hear which one you preferred and why. Thanks!

Submitted dining reservations more than a month in advance and heard back one month in advance that there is no availability for either of them, is this typical?

We put in our wish list about 40 days in advance and heard back from them at 30 days in advance that there’s no reservations at all during our six nights stay at either Las Cuevas or La Silla. Is this normal? How can all the reservations be gone if you’re not even usually submitting until 30 days in advance?
