Surgical Site Pain

I had my takedown on Monday and with the old stoma site being left open this hole in my stomach is proving extremely painful
Especially with any trapped gas building up and no way to relieve it
I’m cleaning it once daily and have been told to left it exposed to heal
Any tips 🫠

Passing Gas

I had my takedown on Monday
I’m fortunate to only be going 7-8 times a day currently, with no leaks at night.
My current biggest issue is comfort/ cramps and the passing of gas. It seems I need to sit on the toilet for almost an hour to pass enough gas to feel comfortable. Any tips for this ??

UPDATE - it got cancelled ! I sat in my surgical gown and stockings for 5 hours just to be send back home. 4 hour round trip wasted. This will now see me to 20 WEEKS with a loop ileostomy when I’d been promised / advised 10 weeks max all along.

I’m finally getting my takedown tomorrow !

Is there anything you wish you brought to hospital / knew about looking back on your experience ?

I feel I’m pretty prepared, I’ve got some creams for the inevitable butt burn and a portable bidet etc.
