i need advice 😅
hi guys, new beardie owner here, i adopted a 3 year old female (supposedly) over a week ago, and ive noticed that she has some interesting traits!!
- recently I've started to pick up on the fact that she's sleeping with her head directly upright some nights?? (I'll attach a photo) apparently this is normal but can also mean that the temperature in her viv isn't right (I follow a day night cycle as well as I can but I have to turn her basking light on and off throughout the day as her viv can easily reach up to 43⁰C , especially with how the weather's been in the UK making everything 10 times hotter anyways (DONT WORRY WHEN IT DOES REACH THIS HOT I TAKE HER OUT AND COOL IT DOWN IMMEDIATELY)) and I always make sure to have a hotter and cooler side to the viv.
- she's not overweight exactly but I have noticed she's not very mobile both in and out the vivarium, I've tried everything but this stubborn girl will not move 🙈 the most movement I've really seen from her is her playing with a rubber duck in the bath for about 5 seconds
- she's extremely bug orientated, the past few days I've been trying to get her back into a healthy diet (the whole 80% veg thing) and this girl will flat out refuse anything I put in her feeding dish, but will happily sit and eat insects to her hearts content. I've tried limiting the amount she has amd how often I'm giving them to her, but then she likes to try and eat my fingers whenever I'm remotely near her (before you ask, no she's not angry or scared, just purely trying to EAT my fingers)
- she will only eat insects off the tweezers, I've been told this is a bad thing as she won't then even attempt to get her own food (which my dad tested by putting 4 crickets in her tank, which she let crawl all over her, but as soon as there was one on the tweezers, she'd eat it) is this a bad thing??
I know these are probably such stupid questions to ask but I'd rather ask people that have experience than Google (who notoriously tells me she's probably dying but is also completely fine at the same time) any advice would be appreciated by both me and Dottie!! TIA x
