Wanted to share a recent experience seeing Shane at the Aristocrat in Austin

Just got back from 30 days in NYC and saw Shane’s story on IG. Clicked it and there were tickets for a show in Austin and I realized the story was 27s old. Bought two tickets immediately. Showed up and there were maybe 40-50 chairs in the whole place. Show was sold as “Shane Gillis and Marcus King”.

Anyways, one of Shane’s Philly comedians opened the show, then Matt McCusker, then a black dude I hadn’t see before (really funny), then Shane Gillis did about 30 mins of brand new material. Of course he was working out some kinks which actually made it even cooler to witness. There’s something fun about seeing a comedian work out their material before they do it at an arena or Netflix special.

If that wasn’t enough, after he was done, he said to stick around for drinks as Marcus king was going to perform. They removed all the chairs and Shane & friends were just walking around the bar chilling. I walked by him multiple times but honestly most everyone was keeping it chill and not trying to bug him too much. Then Marcus king crushed it for over an hour and even at one point Shane came on stage and did a random country song 😂

This honestly felt like a movie where I got to hang with one of the funniest guys in the world. My only regret is I wasn’t drinking or I definitely would’ve dapped him up and made more of an effort to start a convo. Even after Marcus was done, people just kept hanging around the bar with Shane, Matt and everyone else. Truly was a once in a lifetime experience. Oh, and the cherry on top - tickets were only $23. INSANE!!

Anyone else feel bad for Timmy Brakes?

I just saw the kill Tony regular show for the first time tonight. Didn’t expect much on a Tuesday, it was kinda a small crowd but by the time “Timmy no brakes” came on, he did one minute of his normal shtick then went into his impersonation of a normal white guy “Tim stiefler” and unfortunately all his jokes as himself were super lackluster.

I want to cheer him on as a comedian but it seems like his material outside his timmy personality just aren’t good at all. Idk what his Longterm plan is but he either needs to fully own the shtick or get really good at writing actual comedy. It’s almost embarrassing how he plays off the whole “how much time do I have left” without doing any real punchlines whatsoever. Not trying to hate on him but it can only last so long before it gets old. What do yall think?

Austin’s own and comedy Mothership Regular just won a Netflix special for getting first place! TBH I was surprised he won over Usama or Reg but still pretty cool. I ended up curiously looking up if he’d been on Kill Tony and he had a spot over 10 years ago. The panelists were absolute condescending dick heads to him.

One of my favorite things of this show is seeing up and coming comics try to make a name for themselves. Even if they may end up getting your lucky break 11 years later. Similar to Tony himself, it’s some inspirational shit.

Congrats Ron Taylor!!
