Giveaway clarifications?

Hiya!

Okay so I am relatively new to the bookstagram community, but am constantly seeing people host giveaways on their page n had a few questions!

Are people typically purchasing new off the shelf items or "regifting" something they already own? (have seen a ton of people gifting brand new kindles and can't tell if the person is buying it themselves or possibly being sponsored?)

How do they keep track of everyone who has completed all the 'steps' necessary to partake in the giveaway? ie follow the account and one other, reposting, commenting, liking the post, etc. You're telling me that this one person is fact checking each and every like/comment to make sure they completed 3-5 steps?

I love the IDEA of hosting a giveaway to promote community but it seems like unnecessary stress on one account/person so I can't wrap my head around it lol

Reviews less than 5 stars don't get as much engagement?

Hello everyone! I am new to the bookstagram game - my account is @moe.reads if anyone would like to check it out / follow for follow!

One thing I have noticed by looking at my insights, is that my review that was less than 5 stars has gotten SIGNIFICANTLY less engagement than my 5 star reviews. Is this normal? Because it feels discouraging... So now i'm struggling internally if I should just avoid posting about books that aren't a 5⭐️! Does anyone else have this problem?
