Indian MBBS student in Russia — some honest thoughts after moving abroad

One thing nobody really prepares you for when studying abroad is the loneliness sometimes.

Moving from India to Russia for MBBS sounded exciting from the outside, but adapting here has honestly been a mix of good moments and difficult ones.

The language barrier, freezing winters, handling studies alone, cooking, managing expenses, and being away from family hits differently after some time.

At first, even simple things like buying groceries or understanding people felt stressful 😅

But slowly I’m learning how to become more independent and mentally stronger because of it.

I’ve also realized that thousands of international students silently go through the same thing while trying to build a future for themselves.

Some days feel productive and motivating.

Some days just feel exhausting.

But I guess that’s part of the journey.

For those studying abroad:

What was the hardest thing for you to adapt to in another country?

20M from India studying MBBS in Russia 🇮🇳➡️🇷🇺

Hey everyone,

I’m 20 years old and originally from India. Right now I’m studying MBBS in Russia.

Living abroad as a student has been a completely different experience for me new language, different culture, harsh winters, managing studies alone, and learning how to adapt to everything without family around. At the same time, it has helped me grow a lot as a person.

I’m trying to improve myself, learn new skills, meet new people, and build a better future while balancing medical studies and life in another country.

Would love to connect with other international students or people who’ve had a similar experience studying abroad. Feel free to ask me anything about student life in Russia, MBBS, culture differences, or adapting to life away from home. 🙂
