Become a Champion of Azeroth with these 13 World of Warcraft Classes

If you've been following along with interviews and previews, little of this is new, but this is still the clearest and most comprehensive picture we have yet about how all World of Warcraft specializations will be handled. What do you think? Anything that excites you? Surprises you? Disappoints you?

Looking back at old adaptations: Champions of Azeroth (v1.0)!

You probably knew this already, but people have been homebrewing D&D/Warcraft conversions since both existed! My humble addition: Champions of Azeroth!

CoA v1.0 Archive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Cpz5Vzv7tY2XEbzSJL1FM-Cp3Fyb_VWs?usp=drive_link

Building on the shoulders of giants, CoA attempted to be the most 5E-faithful conversion at the time. While other conversions tried to build a faithful Warcraft experience using the shell of the 5E game system, I tried instead to present a faithful 5E interpretation of Warcraft lore and fantasy: not a new game, but using the same game we know and love to tell stories in Azeroth. And since this is the direction of the upcoming D&D: World of Warcraft, I'd like to say that I was ahead of my time!

So what happened to CoA v1.0? To put it simply, 5.5e happened! I had almost completely finished v1.0, missing only the most recent content (at the time) like dracthyr and evokers, when the 2024 rules update came along. I also had played a lot of D&D since starting this project, written a lot of homebrew, and learned a whole lot about designing in this space. So the 5.5e update presented the perfect opportunity to revise the project from first principles. I'll share more about what was going to be v2.0 soon, and some of the exciting ideas I had in store - which, if early promos are to be believed, are strikingly similar to some of the things we'll see in the D&D: World of Wacraft book.

So why share this now, with D&D: World of Wacraft so close to coming out? These conversions (mine and others) have a lot of content that you might find useful! Species, subclasses, entire classes, spells, and more. This might be exactly what you're looking for, and even if it's not, it might be inspiring or at least useful! Take a look, and swing by the Champions of Azeroth community to say hi, let me know what you think, and join the party as we try to be the best source for D&D-compatible Warcraft homebrew! https://discord.gg/Z77sexzQ8Y
