Why do some floodlights look bright but still perform poorly?

A lot of floodlights look powerful on paper, but the real result depends on beam angle, mounting height, glare control, and lighting uniformity. In sports fields and outdoor spaces, brightness alone does not guarantee good performance. What do you think matters most when choosing a floodlight system?

A lot of people use the word floodlight loosely, but a floodlight is not just any bright outdoor light.

At its core, a floodlight is a luminaire designed to throw light over a relatively wide area instead of concentrating it into a tight spot. That is the key idea: broad, usable coverage rather than a narrow beam.
