Shout out to fellow Redditor for the recommendation, sorry can’t remember who exactly.

Large Doner plate £22.50. Chilli and garlic sauce arrived after pic taken, and was good; quite similar to other Turkish restaurants. Generous portions of salad, bread and cacik for one person. Rice was subtly buttery. Meat was excellent, juicy not greasy, some crispy charred bits and not much gristle.

The amount of meat in my opinion did feel like a large in comparison to other restaurants. You can get a medium that costs £18, which I will try the next time I visit, to roughly gauge the meat portions.

This is a spenny indulgence, and a bit on the high side comparatively to other Turkish restaurants.

Today’s lunch. I have been here a couple of times before, and the meat is decent shawarma style.

Doner from Gigs Fish and Chips

Gigs Fish and Chips, located around the corner from Goodge Street tube station. £17.90 for the Lamb Doner.
Portion size was moderate, or kinda leaning towards small for the price. I appreciate that it is in a central and touristy location.
I enjoyed the thinly sliced meat. It had crispness on one side, and not greasy or soggy. I didn’t watch them carve it, but I presume it was fresh from the elephant leg and not from the Bain Marie stash.
Fat chippy chips is always great in my books. It came with warmed up pitta bread, not visible in the pic and it was just standard stuff.
Salad was mostly average, though the feta cheese was a nice touch.
Sauces were Garlic mayo/yoghurt? This was quite rich and creamy. Chilli sauce was spicy and hot. Then lastly ketchup.
