My buddy was in my tub last night ( 5/21/26) about the size of my hand and I jumped 😝 but I left it alone. I know they are important. I think it’s a Tropical Huntsman? I live in North Port, Sarasota County. Florida. Anyway enjoy 😉

Hibiscus Plant eaten

I had a beautiful potted hibiscus plant with blooms that were five or 6 inches in diameter, as big as a cat’s head or my hand.
I recently put that potted hibiscus outside of my screen lanai. As of yesterday, it had all its leaves and one or two blooms and some buds.
It’s 1:30 PM on Wednesday and I just looked over at it and it has been completely decimated. 99% of the leaves are gone. All the buds are gone and the branches look like something snapped them or chew them or someone cut them with a scissor.
I live in North Port Florida. We do have raccoons and other wild things walking around at night, but I’ve had hibiscus plants for decades and I’ve never had this happen before no one has been in my backyard.
I have a huge potted plumeria plant and it wasn’t touched at all right next to it
Was it the raccoons? Ants ? Caterpillars? Did the aliens come and take samples like ET did there are no leaves on the floor there’s nothing it’s like they’re gone.
I’ll post before and after pictures

The Meta Glasses Allegations in This Florida School Case Are Deeply Disturbing

This Sarasota Herald-Tribune article was honestly disturbing to read as an educator. According to the probable cause affidavit, 52 students were interviewed by police after multiple female middle school students accused a Woodland Middle School math teacher of inappropriate touching and alleged concerns that he may have been secretly recording students using Meta smart glasses.
What stood out to me most was how detailed and consistent many of the student statements reportedly were. Students described the teacher touching thighs, backs, buttocks, and arms, with one student alleging he touched her inner thigh while she was actively taking a test. Others told investigators they were uncomfortable with his Meta glasses and believed he may have been recording female students because they allegedly saw indicator lights activate on the device.
The article also mentions prior incidents dating back years, including previous allegations from 2018 and similar complaints in 2025. That part is difficult to ignore. It raises hard questions about how schools investigate complaints, monitor professional boundaries, and protect students when concerns are first reported.
The Meta glasses aspect also adds an entirely new layer to this story. Most districts have policies for phones and classroom cameras, but wearable technology with hidden cameras creates major privacy concerns in schools — especially around minors.
No matter what happens legally moving forward, this case is a reminder that students must feel safe reporting uncomfortable interactions and that districts may need much clearer policies regarding wearable recording technology in classrooms.
