Can I do my candidate- led PhD with minimal campus days?

I live quite far south from the university I intend to do my PhD at so commuting would be difficult.
I’m extremely self- driven and organised so I’m not concerned about that, in fact I thrived during my MSc being left to my own devices- of course, with regular Teams contact with my supervisor.

I know that this is a conversation for my potential future supervisor, but before this happens I’d like to know if it’s even a possibility

Thanks!

Who was the mail pod addressed to in s2E2? The whole original crew or just Lister and Rimmer

Was it mail that was due to arrive for the original crew prior to the accident, or was it mail sent specifically to Lister and Rimmer?

I like to think that Earth would obviously have heard about the accident and that there was 1 survives left aboard destined to go into deep space never to return- it would have been global headline news. So I like to think that people from all over the world sent letters and gifts to keep him entertained for the 1 day that he might emerge from stasis.

This doesn’t explain why Rimmer would get letters too as he mostly likely was revived as a hologram only minutes before Lister’s release.

UNLESS the plan to revive Rimmer as his sole companion, which was based on stats and logistics of high IQ computers, was decided shortly after the accident, also reaching headline news.

How do they actually handle their financial and personal etc?

They’ve lived endless lives in place after place, universities, careers, “deaths”, inheritance, social security, land ownership etc etc. I know we basically get told “Jasper and J Jenks handle it”… but how?

This isn’t about money necessarily- we know Alice has the gift of foresight so can see the stock market etc etc. it’s about how they actually manage their affairs to make it all add up so no one catches on

I had gestational diabetes so I’m always getting email reminders to get checked for type 2.
The thing is, I’m already prescribed metformin to combat weight gain side effects caused by other medications that I’m taking. It took weeks to build up the dose so ideally I would prefer to avoid stopping the metformin to get checked.

Essentially I’m asking if metformin would mask it and give a false negative result if I did have type 2 diabetes.

Thank you!
