ULPT request: making my former #1 give me closure after ghosting me one day
It's honestly a really sad story, but basically I'm 20F and the guy in question is 20M. Last year, we met in college and being from the same hometown also, we hung out every single day of our "off term" which was coincidentally winter for both of us, so we were back in our home state. We spent maybe 8 hours together every single day, driving around, doing couple stuff like grocery shopping, baking, visiting christmas markets, eating at restaurants just the two of us etc. We loved each other's company, so we would always end up sidetracked and just sitting in the car for hours having deep conversations. We met each others families. I have never felt more connected to or seen by someone before.
Anyway at the end of the winter we went back to school and I assumed we would stay close, just not as close because we had classes and other friends there too. The first day back on campus he was lovely and did me a manual labor favor for my dorm as I am on the smaller side, without even being asked.
He never spoke to me again after that day. I at first thought he was just wrapped up with getting back to school, but it immediately became clear something happened when after a few days he didn't return any texts, I would see him in public and when we locked eyes he would become visibly shaken and leave, and he wanted nothing to do with me. Didn't respond to any of my texts, all of his friends suddenly hated me but couldn't figure out why. It's been probably 6 months. He knows I'm upset about it as I felt so blindsided and I've asked everyone I know (I was desperate and very anxious/depressed about it, but I regret spreading our business, and I've texted him that).
Here's the thing. I have wracked my brains. I didn't do anything. Seriously. I'm such an imperfect person and I make mistakes, but here, I didn't. I didn't say anything mean, didn't lie, didn't talk shit, didn't move too fast, didn't make him uncomfortable. This, at least, has been confirmed by his one friend who is slightly sympathetic to me.
I haven't seen him all summer and it's now been 8 months since we spoke. I still think and worry about it every day. Being ignored is one of the most painful things possible. I ruined the beginning of the year with how hung up I got over it, I just couldn't believe such a wonderful guy would disappear on me like that (while still existing in my regular life) and felt strongly that I must have done something absolutely terrible that I couldn't remember.
So, what plot can I hatch to get him to tell me what the hell happened? After a lot of therapy, I have come to decide it wasn't my fault, but I just can't move on without knowing. Since texting him, trying to talk to him in person, and talking to his friends didn't work, I'm at a loss. One thing I've considered: figuring out a class he's in and joining it (we have the same major, so it wouldn't be that much of a coincidence), and then going to office hours and begging the teacher with this story to put us "randomly" together for a project.
I have no problem with it being unethical at this point. Everything he has done to me has been unethical. This painful silence with no explanation after such a wonderful time absolutely trashed my mental health.
