Hi everyone !

My landlord decided to sell our apartment.
They ask for a price way above market but since we live in a great neighborhood, people might want to buy it and evict us to live in there.

We would make an offer but we know it won’t be accepted because it would be too low.

The apartment is priced above market for a few reasons : problems with humidity, little water damage and lack of insulation (so it’s super cold in winter but fresh in summer..)

How do I make people not want to buy our apartment? The realtor already has planned some visits next week.
I will be home for those visits with potential buyer but I don’t want to make it obvious that this apartment isn’t worth the price to buyers.

What could I do so people won’t make an offer?

Stop paying for medical bills. Before anyone chimes in that it's illegal or unethical (rule on sub), debt is not illegal, and uncollectible debt that does not hit your credit report affects you 0%. It's akin to going to a restaurant, paying the set price for an item, then the restaurant telling you that item was actually $10,000 after you eat. You can simply decide to walk out.

There are 11 states that have banned medical debt from hitting your credit report. California, New York, notably large. Other stats are possibly following suit.

What happens if you don't pay?

• Hospitals, medical services may still send your debt to a debt collector. Block that number and unknown callers, and you're kush. No - they cannot come seize your home or put you in the puppy pound. Nor does your insurance (if you have insurance) get canceled. The debt just fades into the history of time. And no, you will not be denied for necessary medical care in the future.
• A lot of threads tell you to negotiate with hospitals - if you live in those 11 states, you do not need to do this. Pop open a cold one and watch some fireworks instead, in this dystopian hell-hole we live in.
• OK - I don't live in those 11 states. What do I do? You can still refuse to pay. On average, FICO scores have been progressively going down, so the barrier to entry for getting approved for auto-loans or mortgages have been lessening in turn. If your medical debt(s) are under $500 in debt, it won't affect you. If you make small payments, it won't affect you (yes you can talk to hospital about this). Or you can simply not care about your FICO score, as that is... the zeitgeist of our society.
• Aren't there hacks, with your insurance, where if you ask the hospital/medical provider for an audit of the cost-of-goods-sold and necessity of procedures, that they'll most likely keel over? Yup. This post isn't about that but you can 100% do that and your bills will decrease. There's multiple posts on Reddit about this.

The point of the post is, I see so many Americans create GoFundMe's to pay for procedures, stress out about looming bills and go into severe debt to pay an arbitrary amount that was set by two-opposing factions (hospitals and insurance providers) that have 0 interest in you. Get the care you need, get the care you deserve, and save that money instead for something that's important for you and your family. Our culture is conditioned on guilt - and entities abuse that conditioning to squeeze as much out of you.

What will happen to society if I don't pay my debt? Who cares, but most likely we'll edge towards fair market prices for receiving care, and predatory systems wills naturally crumble (or.. let's face it.. be fine and profits will simply go down somewhere that won't even affect you).

Source: I have never paid for medical bills beyond insurance. Nothing has happened to me. My credit scores have never dipped. I have bought a home instead. And my friends that are doctors/medical professionals have done the same and agree. And no - not a lawyer / not financial advice. I'm just a regular guy.

I booked 2 one-way flights through Allegiance for a week from today. I purchased the insurance on the ticket to cover shit happens, including cancellations. There have been some changes and now it makes way more sense to rent a car and drive. When I went to cancel, it turns out their “refund” will be a voucher toward another ticket that expires in 12 months, and I’m out all the hidden fees. I’m sure this is on me for not reading the fine print, it is what it is. But there’s almost a 0% chance I’ll be flying anywhere within the next 12 months and I’d much rather have this money back.

I’m going to try to call them to see what my options are, but before I do, I’m wondering if anyone with experience in this matter could advise on what language would be most helpful to use. Would it help my chances if I tell them I’m having medical issues, a death in the family, anything else? When I worked for a hotel, I remember “medical issues” was almost like a secret phrase, once somebody mentioned them we would suddenly become much more flexible, but they had to bring it up. Are there any similar rules at play here?

If push comes to shove, if I do cancel and dispute the charges in my card, what kind of recourse would they have? I honestly don’t care if I lose access to their service, but will they uphold the charge and take it to collections?

Is there anything else I should consider in this situation?

I’m having a hard time finding another job in tech, so I thought about inflating those numbers, like saying that I was there for 6 months or 1 year.

So, should I inflate those numbers on LinkedIn and on my CV?

I have a friend that went to jail for 10 months and was finally bonded out a week ago. I 100% believe that he is innocent and he will have his day in court. That aside, the 10 months he was in jail I stood by him as any good friend should do. I went to all his hearing, called him regularly, texted, video chatted, put money on his books, sent him cards. Besides his brother and daughter, I am one of only a handful of people who had any contact with him while he was in jail. His brother called me to let me know he was picking him up and he'd be home soon. I sent him a message on fb messenger and he sent back a short reply saying he'd catch up soon. I haven't heard from him since. He's been posting on facebook etc and I can see when he's on messenger. We've been friends for 40 years. I hate to be petty betty, but I am fuqing hurt. RIght before I came here to post, I blocked him on facebook. The saying is true, a friend in need is a friend indeed. I need an ULPT to get even.

The son of my boss, being the little rat he is, made it so that I can't use Google or any other browser while at work (which i only used to open youtube and listen to music while working btw). If I open any page it keeps buffering until eventually it fails to open. This happens just with my PC. I am a total idiot with computers, so i rely upon you for help. I work in a camping as a receptionist, my computer uses an ethernet cable to connect both to the internet and with the system we need to check clients in. I figured that by removing the cable and using the camping's wifi google works, but by doing so I disconnect from the camping's data center and I am not able to use the operating system and consequently i am not able to work. I am sorry if I explained myself badly, english is not my first language, but I am just so annoyed that he decided to do this out of nowhere just to be an ass, I've been working there for the past two years.

Any tip would be useful, even tips to just annoy him, that's how pissed off I am.

So my apartments have a laundry room that uses Payrange. I noticed new accounts get a free credit for wash/dry. After some experimenting to get it to work every time....I have an extra phone which I would do a factory reset and login with a new Google account during setup. However now I'm at the point where I can't get any device in my household make new Google accounts due to the phone verification thing.

I've tried to skip the account phase and just download the Payrange app which allows me to make an account in app just using email but that doesn't unlock the free credit for some reason.....Seems to really need a fresh Google account logged in for the playstore I assume.

Anyone have any ideas on how I could keep making more accounts or if there is an easier way to do what I was without factory resets and all that?

How to sneak in a movie theater and watch a free movie?

My friend (33F) recently won $1.6 million on an online casino jackpot and made the mistake of telling people. Now everyone suddenly has a financial emergency or thinks she's supposed to fund their life.

My friend is the sweetest person you'll ever meet, but she's terrible at saying no. She hates conflict and if someone keeps asking, she'll eventually cave just to avoid awkwardness or disappointing them.

One of her friends (32 F) has absolutely taken advantage of that. She first asked for a G Wagon then eventually "settled" for a new BMW... which my friend actually bought her.

It gets even messier

1. this girl already had a car that was completely paid off and worked fine. Instead of selling it or even offering to put that money toward the BMW, she gave it away to her friend as a gift.
2. She got a DUl recently, so l'm not even sure she can legally drive right now. The car title is in my friends name.
3. She's on perpetual FMLA, so I honestly don't know who's paying for insurance, registration, maintenance, or anything else so it will most likely fall on my friend.

Now my friend is panicking and realizes she got manipulated into making a massive purchase and wants the BMW back, but if she has to be the one to say, "I want my car back," it'll never happen.
So... any ideas?

Looking for believable excuses, loopholes, or ways the car could end up back with my friend without it looking like she suddenly got buyer's remorse.
Even better if it makes it seem like the decision was out of her hands.

I have this individual in my life that is simply terrible. Sour individual that should be checked for anger issues. Not going to get into much details, but he makes everyone's life miserable for his entertainment.

Hello! I have an old rust bucket that looks like it went through an apocalypse. It once belonged to my MIL, who is now passed away. We have no title to junk it, and apparently to get one according to the DMV we can get a "junk certificate", meaning we get it registered as non operational. Problem is, it has no engine to start with, so there's that. I'm not gonna pay a tow company to tow it to the DMV for them to give it a "visual inspection" to ensure that it exists if I'm just gonna pay to have it hauled again from there to boot. What do I do with this derelict peice of shit? Tow it to the road and file off the VIN number and take the plates? The DMV literally can't even find any info or paper trail on it- to them it does not exist- even after giving them the VIN on the physical said piece of shit.

My boss is a control freak that has cameras around almost every inch of the site, and he sits in his office all day with a 45 inch TV displaying every feed at once. It's weird, it's creepy.

As a poor person (but not on EBT) I would like to go to Museums. Certain museums in Boston are free for residents. I don't live Massachusetts (I live in a neighboring state). My library does not have passes. I have no friends who live in Boston (sad face). I am not part of any Museum member program.Please help me in the quest. It would be just for myself.

Here is the situation. I am in debt, roughly 5 months of my current income worth of debt. Part of it is from me being stupid, part of it is from me not working while recovering from a surgery.

I am working Monday to Friday at a demolition job, and I should get a weekend only job shortly, I am applying like crazy for it (with tailored resumes).

Once I get the weekend job, I need one day off per week to practice welding. I can practice welding for free including all consumables (long story) but I can only do it during regular weekday business hours, so I need a day off from my demolition job. Once I'm good enough at welding, I can get a new job with a 3 or 4 dollar per hour raise, and I can continue practicing to work towards even better pay.

The issue is: I cannot tell my current work "I need one day off per week so that I can practice welding" as that will let them know I'll be quitting in a month or two.

What is a lie I can tell them to get one day off per week?

Having trouble getting my (f43) doctors to believe I’m perimenopausal and that estrogen would make my life better. I’ve lost jobs from the brain fog, I’ve ruined relationships with the anxiety and rage (plus a bazillion other signs with my hair, skin, eyes, menstrual cycle; it’s been a messy shit show for at least 5 years). The only thing I’m getting is more and more antidepressants. Which is turning my brain into a potato.

I FINALLY talked a doctor into at least giving me an estradiol test. Except that hormone can fluctuate wildly even over the course of a day.

What can I do to help my odds and make that number test low? Unfortunately I don’t think piss discs will help in this situation.

The situation is as follows. Every day, me and two of my friends—let’s call them John and Tom—hop in a Discord call. John, who has an NYT subscription, streams the daily crossword for us, and we all partake in suggesting answers in a collaborative effort until the grid is fully completed. It’s all very fun, and I’m glad I have a group like this to complete the crosswords with. However, as you can tell by the title, there’s something off with one of the members of our little crossword clique.

I would call myself a pretty decent solver. Nothing too insane, but I can hold my own with most of the early-week puzzles, and am always quicker than my parents when we do some archive ones together. John is as good as me, if not slightly better. He’s a few years older, so he naturally possesses more niche knowledge, and I’m also pretty sure that he’s just straight up gifted. Despite that I’m usually still able to match his pace and contribute just as much as he does.

Tom, on the other hand, is a crossword savant. Not on the “pro” level of solvers that are able to complete a Saturday in 5 minutes, but still two levels ahead of me and John. I’ll give you a comparison to illustrate this. After every solve, I watch this YouTuber named Chris Remo (not an advertisement btw, but still a great channel) complete the crossword. He has over 2.6k NYT crosswords solved, not counting the minis and midis. He can solve the average crossword in around 10-20 minutes. Tom can make guesses at maybe 90% his speed, and we’ve been playing for around 3 weeks. What’s even MORE striking is that when we first started playing, Tom was worse than me and John, and now he’s suddenly the James Holzhauer of our little game nights.

Here are some examples of what I’m talking about, all picked from NYT crosswords of the past week:
- Tom recognized the valley-speak theme extremely quickly. After seeing ONE “Like” in ONE word, he had already deduced the theme of the ENTIRE puzzle.
- Do you remember the theme from a few days ago with repeated endings? Yeah, he deduced it after seeing ONE word with a repeated ending. To extrapolate a pattern like that with this little experience after seeing only one hint is simply unfathomable to me.
- From today’s “Bed of Fish?” hint: He guessed “SUSHIRICE” with only one or two letters revealed.
I can’t even comprehend how it’s possible that a beginner can make that leap of logic so quickly without having already seen the answers.

And lastly, besides being much more creative and quick, he’s also way more accurate than me and John. It always feels like he’s correcting us when we suggest wrong answers, but never the other way around, In fact, I can’t even remember the last time he suggested a wrong answer.

Of course, this can all be attributed to him just being naturally gifted at crosswords. Me and John thought so too, until earlier today, when the smoking gun finally revealed itself. Tom was sharing his screen, and we both noticed that one of his tabs was a page displaying the answers to today’s crossword (after we had already completed it). Of course, it isn’t far fetched for Tom to claim that he was checking his answers or reviewing the puzzle post completion or whatnot, and it’s pretty scummy to accuse your friend on the spot like that, so we didn’t confront him. However, after discussing it privately and rehashing all the suspicious moments amongst ourselves, we’re almost 100% sure he cheats. We, being relentless and competitive vessels of justice, both want to prove without a doubt that he’s cheating as well. We are willing to go very far for this, for example tampering with inspect element to make fake hints to catch him in a trap, or something along those lines.
