How to shift quickly but cleanly?

I want to shift quicker but not overburden components.

Was told that I should "preload" shifter with foot (gentle pressure), then drop rpm but not necessarily fully, then clutch in only slightly.

Is this good advice?

I've been releasing throttle, fully clutching in, then shifting, then slight throttle and slowish clutch release.

Wanting to get SM wheels. But I have windshield, auxiliary LED pods, big tubular skid plate, rack. Having hard time imagining / visualizing what it will look like. Anyone put SM wheels on a ADV looking DR? Could you share a photo? Thanks!

Edit: what I'm really after is two sets of wheels to maximize traction for each "sport". Maybe I should go with 21" front wheel with slicks for second set. If SM with an ADV bike is dumb/unconventional. But my read of things, 17" front with 3.5" width gives more contact at lean.

In the morning was idling well after it warmed up.

After 3 or 4 hours of warm riding I saw the idle rpms be at 900. When I got home I adjusted the idle back to 1400 but not sure about the throttle response. Also the screw was not loose, so not sure what could have caused it. Maybe I need it 1/8th richer? Does it drop Ok?

Also, since you listened to my engine. Is it making nominal racket?

Thanks! 🙏
