What have you been sticking to that worked over years?

i used to visit this subreddit around 2018. Back then i was in a chronic state of disaster and helpless. i ate a standard diet with milk products which was destroying my gut.

Really bad skin issues (90% healed by today), insomnia: reliably gone for the past 3 years..

and social anxiety vanished even my posture has changed. i still get mystery gut-related mood dips sometimes that destroy my energy. But when not in a flare up i feel phenomenal in a way ive never felt before the past 2 years.

The main thing ive been sticking to is basing most calorie intake on starches. i even reintroduced gluten without any issues which is a sign that leaky gut is resolving. Also massive intake of plain beans which i believe is resulting in the butyrate/propionate boost that healed the leaky gut and skin issues.

I confirmed many times that i cannot reintroduce tomatoes, they trigger a dry eczema on the side of my nose and affect my energy. And olive oil makes me feel awful for some reason. Im still sensitive to milk products, i think its acasein allergy.

im curious to read what people have been doing that made a strong impact long term.

Bad experience with Magnesium supplements

Some people with hangover effect have mentioned bad reactions to magnesium, as in anxiety or mood or sleep (the opposite of what it's advertised as helping).

I tried magnesium glycinate a few weeks ago again and yes it had these effects. I noticed i felt depressed after a few days, and I might have baseline anxiety but i havent felt depressed in years. Immediately threw it away.

Interestingly i get good effects from calcium carbonate, it seems to be helping digestion and skin and mood, also when i take it with black coffee it reduces the anxiety from it.

sulfur

Ray Peat touched on sulfur but this doesn't get much attention.

Theres this book The Devil in the garlic that shows sulfur processing can be for some the secret root of the typical forum problems (anxiety skin insomnia testosterone metabolism...).

I noticed im sensitive to sulfites and get delayed reactions from onions like brain fog, body feeling numb, sinus pressure. And on days where i mainly ate white starches, fruits, sucrose, coffee my energy and mood tend to be really good with no migraines

Molybdenum b12 b1 b6 had zero effects here so im planning a strict low sulfur experiment for 2 weeks to see what happens, never tried it despite reading that book a year ago and ive been stuck on a plateau with Peating. I'm a 24yo active male main issues are annoying mild acne that wont go away and migraines, testosterone not feeling great.

i don't recommend anyone else does it , its just a personal experiment which is quite extreme.

Essentially just fruits and juice,, white starches, sugar, salt, some nuts, coffee, soda. (Like 2000 cal a day, this is not a starvation protocol). I should probably add collagen powder for amino acids (its sulfur-free)

Does anyone have more experience or knowledge on this
