Hertz car rental has the WORST customer service

I rented a car from Provo Airport in Utah in July 2026. I did not know it, but the car had a defective tire. About twenty minutes into the drive, I noticed a warning on the dashboard display saying one of the tires had only 10lbs. of pressure (normal is around 30). I was able to find a gas station with an air pump, and I filled the tire. It was too late at night to go back to the airport, as the rental desk was closed. I drove to Park City, my destination. In the morning the pressure in that tire was below 20 lbs. I called the local Hertz, but they were sold out and couldn't help me. I called Hertz roadside assistance, but they could not come within an acceptable timeframe (a few hours). I had commitments, and I could not wait for them. I ended up not using the car. Before heading to the airport I re-filled the tire. I told the Hertz employee at the counter what happened, and he instructed me to call Hertz customer service. As an aside, you need to say, "I want to speak with a human" three times before a live person will answer. The customer service representative offered me $25 for the trouble. I said I wanted a refund. Then I was basically told they would look into the matter. This was approximately July 6-7. I did not hear back from them until September 3. Then I was offered $50. I said this was unacceptable. It is October 10, and I have not heard back from them.

I have rarely registered a complaint to any company, but I have dealt with customer service on many occasions. This is by far the WORST example of customer service I have ever experienced. They made almost no effort to resolve the problem, and their solution was entirely unacceptable. I understand the policy that they need a record of roadside assistance in order to really address a problem, but in the big picture, they could have done more. I will NEVER rent from Hertz again, and I discourage everyone from doing business with them.
