Hertz bills me 6 months later on a rental

I'm just really frustrated.

I use hertz every week for my work, literally every week. I received a debt collection bill last week claiming I owed money on an entire rental in 2025. I went back through AMX and my receipts from hertz and it does appear they forgot to bill me or were unable to process the payment for some reason at the time. The bill states $0 owed from me (that is on the bill directly from hertz at the time of return, i still have it.)

I reached out to customer service and waited 65 minutes and gave up waiting... I also had a live chat opened with all my information waiting for someone to respond at the same time. So that didn't get a response for 65 minutes. What the #$ck am I suppose to do???

I don't want to pay this debt collection company, its absurd, if Hertz realized they didn't bill me properly back then, why the hell didn't they simply just send me the bill? I would have gladly paid it. After wasting my time like this I'm thinking about burning the letter and giving them the finger.

What a shitty company, I spend roughly $15000 USD with hertz a year. Iv been using them for 5 years. I think this is the end of the road with me and this turd of a business.

Thrifty Car Rental

So I rented a car at SeaTac Airport from Thrifty which is apparently under Hertz and they put a $200 authorization hold on my account. The car rental was from 5/1/26-5/3/26. I returned it and was given a receipt with my original price. However, since then the hold hasn't been released on my account although it's been more than 10 business days. I bank with Chime and they told me they can't release the funds without an authorization code. Yet when I call Thrifty, they tell me that they've already released the funds and they never actually took them in the first place so they don't have a code to give me. Basically Chime told me to just wait it out but this is extremely frustrating and I need those $200 for bills, etc. Has anyone else faced this issue? How did you get them to release the hold? And if you were successful, was it your bank or Thrifty that released it?

What vehicles are currently in Hertz’s P6 (Large Elite SUV) fleet at SFO?

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming rental at Hertz SFO for a “Large Elite SUV” (P6). About 10 years ago I booked the same category and ended up with an Escalade, but from what I’ve researched, Hertz doesn’t seem to have Escalades in the fleet anymore.

The Grand Wagoneer used to clearly be the luxury version of the Wagoneer, but now that Jeep merged the lineup and everything is basically branded as Grand Wagoneer, I’m wondering whether the standard trims still really fit the P6 category.

Does anyone know what vehicles Hertz currently uses for the P6 class? Are they offering higher trims like the Grand Wagoneer Summit series, or mostly base models? Or maybe even the Lincoln Navigator?

Thanks!

Advice on getting to new Consolidated Rental Car Facility?

We’re set to land tomorrow, May 21st around 5:30pm at the Delta terminal. Our rental car is booked through Hertz and thankfully we should be able to go directly to it/bypass the line.

That said, I’m hearing horror stories about the new consolidated rental car facility as well as the fact that the people mover is not yet operational.

Does anyone have any advice on how to efficiently get from the Delta terminal to the rental car facility? I’m not afraid of a walk, but don’t want to wait an hour for a shuttle that’s inevitably packed.

Bonus points on better shuttles that can at least get us out of the terminal area quickly even if it means a walk to the rental car facility!

Hertz windshield replacement harassment

I rented 5 cars for nearly 4 MONTHS out of pocket with hertz and the last one had a rock hit glass on highway. I reported it, I went through State Farm (which are HORRIBLE telling me I had a $1000 deductible…. I laughed and told them not to be ridiculous the glass doesn’t even cost that and FL doesn’t allow insurers to charge a deductible), so they paid for the glass and now hertz has left several voicemails asking me to call back about “fees”. First Ive read other posts where people don’t get charged anything at all, and some went through insurance and others never got extra fees. I was told to ask hertz for proof of loss of use of th rental car and whatever else they’re going to try and fleece me for…I’ve returned their call 3 times and get voicemail and now I got another one.

Just so angry after being a loyal customer over the years..never again. Anyone else go through this?

Hertz Cancellation?

Prebooked an intermediate SUV to pick up at a Hertz location in Portland, unfortunately did not pay ahead because it wasn't an option for that SUV. 48 hours before my flight to Portland, I get a call from the Hertz office saying that they won't be able to fulfill my reservation due to a statewide shortage in cars. We call customer service and they say they can either give us a sedan for the same price, or we can pick up an SUV at a different location (20 minutes away) for 300 dollars more. We are kinda broke college students using this SUV to car camp and we chose Hertz because of their no "young driver's fee" if we bought a AAA membership, but now seems we're SOL. Any ideas of what to do or what to tell customer service if we call back? We've reiterated that this is NOT our fault or our mistake, but they hung up on us.

Lax K6 Category

I’m heading to LA in August and I switched my booking from an L4 to a K6, both bring 7 passengers and one being awd and the other not. Does anyone know what the options in their fleet are and if I get some choices once I arrive.

Las Vegas airport(LAS)

What kind of cars am I expected to get? I heard they have a couple of GTs at major airports. I know for sure they have EcoBoost convertibles everywhere. If not a GT, what are the alternatives in this class? Can anyone share their experience with this specific location? Thank you.

Gold Member Education

Somedays, I really wish Gold/5/Pres would learn the rules about what they can and can't do, what they're entitled to and not, and that sometimes you can't just book 5 minutes before your pickup time and just expect the car to be ready to go or even available. Oh and Pres Circle, yall need to relax with trying to flex that you even are that status. You know there's Platinum that rent way more than you can ever rent and they dont act the same way you do. Positive Experience at ATL airport

I always see negative stuff and it made me really reluctant to proceeding with my rental. So I’m here to say I had an amazing 5/5 visit and service from every angle of my rental. Everything went so smooth I wish I could remember or read the name of the representative who helped me. She was amazingly kind and gave me a slight upgrade from a Q4 to a Q5, she said she liked this vehicle better and it’s fit my height better for my trip. It was such a relief for everything to go exactly how it was displayed to be. I booked through AAA and I’m only 20 years old. I did not pay an underage fee!! My total cost for a Thursday-Monday rental was $246 which seems amazing to me as I was in Florida and rented through Turo last year and it was about $600!! I was very skeptical with the AI scanners but they were seamless. I did not have a wait for anything besides the rep going outside to note the vehicle spot and had it pulled up right to the Gold member desk. This was my first rental through hertz and will definitely be going through them again for my next trip. 10/10 experience with pickup and return. My final receipt was sent this morning with no damage or extra charges added, such a relief as I was terrified I’d get ding for a previous ding on the door or something you know!! So don’t be afraid, you hear the horror stories wayyyy more than you hear about the positive stories. Thank you guys in this sub for your guidance in making sure all my questions were answered.

What cars does Hertz have in Mid-size SUVs right now? (Q4)

Hi everyone, I just booked a 2WD Mid-size SUV from a Hertz location in Los Angeles, and was wondering what are the possible cars for this category? I know from the picture that the Nissan Rogue is one of them, but are there others?

Scuff on the rental, options before returning?

I scuffed the bumper a bit on my rental and need to return it tomorrow afternoon. Wondering what my options are to avoid a fat bill. We booked through Expedia since the coverage was cheaper; opted not to also get coverage through Hertz themselves. We used an AMEX card, but I don't believe we have the coverage so many folks mention (using blue cash).

Anyone Successfully Linking President’s Circle to Third-Party Reservations?

I’m a President’s Circle member and recently booked through a third-party site because the price was much lower than booking directly with Hertz.

I called customer service three different times trying to link my reservation to my Gold Plus Rewards profile, but none of the agents were able to make it work.

Has anyone here found a reliable way to successfully link third-party reservations and still receive President’s Circle benefits?

$1000 Hertz Toll bill

Hertz charged me over $1,000 in toll fees and I have no idea what’s going on. So I recently rented a car from Hertz for 2 months and got hit with over $1,000 in toll charges. The crazy part? They have detailed records of every single toll when it happened, where it happened, everything. Looks very official and documented.

The problem is I never went through those tolls. Not even close. I did use tolls twice during my rental (two specific round trips from Jersey City to New York), and I’m fully owning up to those. But the rest of them? I have zero knowledge of them. I wasn’t there, I didn’t drive those routes, and I have no idea how these charges ended up on my account.

I’m currently disputing it with them and sending over all my evidence, but honestly this whole thing is insane. Has anyone else dealt with Hertz overcharging on tolls like this? Any advice on how to escalate or get this resolved faster would be really appreciated.

Platepass charged me 7.50 for tolls + a $29.99 convenience fee , even though I used my own transponder, what are my options?

I am using my own EZPass from NYC. I drove in florida and had my own transponder on my vehicle the entire time. I know my transponder is working because it did pay some off the tolls, but it didn't catch all of them it seems.

I don't want to pay an extra $30 , when I had my transponder installed the whole time. Can Platepass redirect the toll charges to my transponder/ EZPass account or something?
