I am disputing the charge for the alleged hail damage to the rental vehicle.
I rented the vehicle on July 27 and returned it before the agreed return/pickup time. The original rental agreement states that the vehicle was scheduled to be picked up by the body shop on August 18 at 2:14 PM. I had already returned the vehicle before that time.
Unfortunately, a hailstorm occurred at approximately 3:45 PM, after I had already returned the vehicle and no longer had possession or control of it. The next day, I was contacted and told that I was responsible for the hail damage.
I previously disputed this charge and provided the original rental agreement showing the agreed end time. Despite this documentation, my dispute was denied.
I am requesting that you review this matter again and provide documentation establishing that I had possession, custody, or responsibility for the vehicle at the time the hailstorm occurred. If the vehicle had already been returned before the storm, I do not believe it is appropriate to hold me responsible for weather-related damage that occurred afterward.
Please provide the specific contractual provision and evidence you are relying on to hold me responsible for this damage. I am requesting that the charge be removed from my account.
