My Disney trip & MLB 5950’s

This past weekend I was at Disney World and decided to see how many different teams MLB 5950’s I could spot. It actually became fun to keep a look out for them. Here is the list of teams we saw in 3 days at the parks and Disney Springs (not in any order). Most teams I saw only once unless noted:

  7. Yankees - too many to keep track of

  10. Red Sox - 3 times

  11. Dodgers - too many to keep track of

  12. Phillies 4x

  13. Reds 3x

  14. Cubs 2x

  15. Astros

  16. Devil Rays/Rays- too many to keep track of

A few surprises for me were the Diamondbacks and Padres hats on the east coast, never saw one in the wild with the exception of at games when the team was playing on the road. The lack of Braves hats, zero Mets hats, 1 Pirates hat, 1 current Marlins hat (no throwback Florida ones) and the amount of Rays/Devil Rays hats. I lost count at 15 Rays hats. I guess winning really does bring out the fans. But these were old hats, a few new ones but mostly older hats. This was great to see cause since 2019 I have been a fan of them.

Overall, this was a fun “game” to play while walking around the parks and waiting in lines. Glad to see everyone sporting their favorite MLB teams 5950’s, some well broken in and other very new.

Note - only saw one person wearing the stickers on the hat brim and about 95% had the brims bent, some slightly other hard curve.

I ordered a Florida Marlins 7 3/8 hat on ebay and it came yesterday! NOS with Tags From 1993. Hat is in exellent condition minus a bit of spotting on the sweatband. Hat is a bit tight, probably from shrinkage of the wool. Im going to steam, bend the brim and stretch the hat a bit for a better fit. The build quality is outstanding.

Forgot how great a MIUSA 5950 was from the 80’s and 90’s. Was just talking to someone about ordering hats through the mail back then, direct from New Era, for less than $20. Fill out the form, write a check for amount owed and drop in the mail. Oh how I miss the good old days….. 😄

I lost my LLB Pathfinder rain coat I have had for the past 6 yrs and need to get a new one. I have had the LLB Trail Model years ago and the inside lining peeled off after a few years and it was like wearing a garbage bag as it didnt breath. I loved the Pathfinder and got it for $160 on sale back when they did 25% offs. I went to look at a new one and they are $300!!! I have a measly 15% off but WTF, $300!?! I saw they have a Cresta Stretch rain coat for $180 breaths and has pit zippers to let out air like the Goretex one, but the online reviews say it doesnt keep you dry. basically what its supposed to do. Anyone have any experience with these coats, specifically the Cresta Stretch one? Its considerabally cheaper and might be an option. Or should I go and pop for the $300 one minus 15%off?
