Hawaii, a hui hou…

A beautiful hula dancer bids me farewell from the beach of my favorite place in the world… this song is playing in the background

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncDW2kLK1BI

The second mash was supposed to be submitted for last week’s Vegas theme, because in May I met up with my brother there & we traveled to Hawaii together (I was exhausted & I dislike Vegas, LOL)…

Hawaii holds a very special place in my heart. It was the first place my parents took me on a real vacation when they finally finished school and had saved up enough money to go somewhere. I’ve never really been to any other countries, but I’ve been to 4 of the islands and two are my favorites. I’ve been trying to learn Hawaiian for years, but it’s been tough.

My mil was sucked into buying tons of scents products by her former DIL. Now she has a rare auto-immune disease.

Title should say SCENTSY. I’ve always hated these products. I am very sensitive and they give me instant migraines. Now she has a very rare auto-immune disease. When I researched it, one of the causes is exposure to toluenes and other chemicals… which obviously are in scentsy, candles and other scented products that she uses excessively.

She is also very stubborn. Any advice on how to get her to stop using these dangerous products? Her son is on board to help, but we need literal studies, clinical proof, doctor advice, etc…

She is truly feeling miserable, and this disease is going to end her life. She is in pain all the time, but she won’t give up on this crap and is being guilted into buying the stuff, even though this ex-DIL cheated on her dying son before he was gone and has been an all-around awful person…

She hasn’t been very nice to me over the years, but I feel for her husband and her son. And as someone who has lost both of my parents, I don’t want my fiancé to go through this any sooner than he has to- he already lost his older brother to leukemia (this horrible ex-SIL was married to the brother when he died).

Edit: I guess I didn’t word this properly. I’m not looking for “clinical proof” or “doctor’s advice” here, just any info y’all might be able to point me towards regarding scentsy products/ingredients being harmful. I left out her specific diagnosis because I think that stating “rare auto immune disease” (less than 10 specialists in the entire U.S.) that came on rather suddenly & the fact that she is deteriorating rapidly is enough information to know that it is very serious.

What to make with about 4 lbs of thawed overcooked elbow noodles?

I had 2 frozen gallon size bags of cooked elbow noodles that I thawed to use in a recipe (not sure why I had frozen them originally, but here we are.)

When thawed, the noodles became extremely wet/mushy and barely hold any shape.

Are they worth trying to salvage in some sort of recipe? I hate to throw them out, but the texture by themselves is not very appetizing.

I figured I would come to the experts here for ideas… please help!

Edit: I really appreciate the people who took the time to answer me. I got a lot of good ideas.

But, WOW… To the people that said: “toss them” or “not worth it” or “pasta is cheap”…

Sure, pasta is relatively cheap. But time isn’t. Effort isn’t. I froze these because I had taken the time to make all of them & didn’t use all of them. I really dislike wasting food.

4 years ago I lost an entire freezer’s worth of mostly seafood because an installer tripped a breaker & my deep freezer did not re-start when the breaker turned back on (the freezer was a hand-me-down from my deceased mother). I didn’t find out until late the next day when I went downstairs to do laundry, smelled something funny and checked the freezer after noticing a wet spot on the floor.

I’ve seen so many posts and great suggestions on this sub that I thought I would post the question.

While I am thankful for the legitimate answers, I really don’t appreciate the shaming. Would you be saying the same thing to me if I said I was starving and only had this to get me by? A lot of the answers were really rude. But I guess I should have expected that…

Miss Congeniality

I took my inspiration for this challenge from the movie Miss Congeniality, which isn’t your usual spy type movie, but I think it still fits the challenge…

The first mash is supposed to be the evening gown, and the second is the talent contest.

Hey There Lil Red Riding Hood…

… You sure are lookin good… you’re everything a big bad wolf would want…

This one is for my dad… I always end up thinking of music when it comes to challenges… This was a song from the 60’s that my dad had on (get this) reel-to-reel tape. It was by Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs. But of course most Americans know the folk tale of Little Red Riding Hood…

Here’s my take:

New to Alaska, what’s with the PDB situation?

I normally fly Delta (status holder) or Hawaiian FC. Just returned from a trip where I flew DL from MSP-LAS & then AS from LAS-HNL. These flights were as expected with PDBs: on DL, alcohol beverage of choice in glassware… on the LAS-HNL (which was a red-eye operated by HA) they also offered alcohol beverage of choice.

On the return trip, we were booked fully on AS. As expected, the red-eye from HNL-SEA (operated by HA) offered alcoholic beverage of choice, but when I boarded my last flight SEA-MSP which was operated by AS, we were offered either *water* or *orange juice* in a paper cup (in FC).

Is this normal for Alaskan? Many other things were already disappointing about this travel experience since the merger, because I have always been a huge fan of Hawaiian & Delta…

Can someone help me understand this?
