Surgery

Hi

I think I’ve suffered from akathesia or something very similar. It’s been a harrowing experience - one I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

I know it’s a bit irrational, but given how terrible the experience of akathesia can be, I’m now terrified of undergoing emergency surgery in the future and not being able to refuse D2 blocking meds since I’m unconcious.

Are they actually administered in a lot of cases as anti-emetics in emergency surgery? How many of you have gotten it that way? Is there anything you guys recommend to prevent this?

D2 blockers

Hi,

I’d really like to get D2 blockers in general listed as an allergy on my record (I don’t have any documented mental health history- I want to prevent administration in the context of nausea, headache, etc.). I don’t want to ask my PCP about this. The reasons aren’t important. Is there any kind of telehealth psychiatrist I could talk to quickly to get this done? Don’t mind paying out of pocket

Clav’s watch

Thought to post this picture and ask because the color really caught my eye. It’s quite electric, at least in the picture. A part of me also wonders what this “looksmaxer” deems an attractive watch.

I know little about watches, but I would guess solely based off of who’s wearing it that it’s just a basic Rolex. But I hope it’s something more interesting

Nicotine

I found a post from a long time ago where someone described having a POIS-like reaction to nicotine. He described it as unusually dysphoric and anxiety-inducing, and definitely not the usual focus enhancing effect nicotine has. He said even after one regular use of nicotine (I think he was talking about vaping) his head-space would be slightly altered for the rest of the day. This is true for myself as well.

I’m wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences. If it turns out to be the case that POIS-ers generally don’t react to nicotine normally, this could be a clue as to what neurological differences, such as altered receptor behavior, could have a part in POIS. (If not, of course, then this is a dead end. But my own reaction to nicotine is so strange that after seeing a post on here detailing a similar experience I thought there’s at least a decent chance this line of thought will yield something interesting.)
