Hello all - this is my first post so I hope I’m in the right spot. I stumbled across this piece in a vintage watch and clock repair shop in Italy. The man spoke no English, but through Google Translate he shared the following:

• Believed to be from the 1950s
• The person who brought it in suggested it was a gift for Air Force officers after illustrious careers (unclear which country’s Air Force)
• Valjoux 69 movement
• Chronograph and time-keeping work perfectly well
• Everything appears to be original

I sent images to Baume et Mercier and they were unable to identify this particular watch, which they said is common for pieces this old. I have no information on this, can’t find anything that looks like it online, and would LOVE any help learning anything I can about this watch. Thank you!

I spotted this watch on someone’s wrist on the train and only had a few seconds to take a photo, right before he got off while waiting for the doors to open.

From what I can make out, it looks like a diver and the logo seems to be Longines, or at least very similar to the Longines winged hourglass. It has a black bezel, round hour markers, a triangle at 12, crown guards, and a steel bracelet. The hour hand also has a distinctive circular section near the tip, which might help narrow it down.

One thing that caught my attention is the bezel: the minute markings seem to run only through the first section rather than all the way around, and the overall layout doesn’t immediately look like the current Longines divers I know.

Unfortunately this is the only photo I managed to get. Any idea what model/reference this could be? Could also be vintage, modified, a homage, or something else entirely.

I found this omega constellation in my moms cupboard and wanted to check if this is an authentic one or a replica, can i do it myself or will i have to go to a professional

I bought this Cartier Tank Solo Small in Rose Gold from a pawn shop’s online store. I paid around $4500 which seems like a good deal but not “too good to be true”, especially if the pawn shop got it a few months ago:

I absolutely know that this model has “super reps” out there. I’ve got a 30 day return window and want to make sure I decide to keep or return ASAP.

I had ChatGPT Pro collate every replica photo it could find from various replica forums, and the serial on this one doesn’t match any of them, and shows as the right watch on the Cartier Care site with a purchase date of over a decade ago. The quartz movement in here doesn’t look like the Ronda or Cartier-labeled movements in the replicas either.

The strap is a bit messed up but it arrived on a holder that was too big for it, so maybe just too much strain on a 10-year-old leather strap?

Presumably, the pawn shop tests the gold content of these items before accepting them! The available evidence I have points toward it being legit. But my paranoia is still tingling because it’s a larger purchase than I’m used to haha

Worst case scenario options:
- the band is bad because it’s shitty dupe leather!
- someone swapped the movement and steel back from a legit watch onto a replica
- replicas are just better now (better duped movement, new serial numbers that match)

I found this in my late grandfathers office. He was not a watch guy and his other pieces are all cheap $20-80 quartz mass produced watches, but this one is mechanical and has a real brand name. I have had no luck finding this model with what I imagine is the serial number on the back anywhere online, so I was wondering if anyone has ever seen anything like it.

It also looks as though two of the smaller hands are missing? The movement still runs rather smoothly and keeps time with the main hands fairly accurately from what I’ve seen, but I don’t have any time graphing tools.

Hello everyone! I was recently gifted my grandfather‘s old watch.

It was a work anniversary gift. The backside of it has his initials and the years on it are his tenure year at the job. So I’m guessing it’s probably from the early 80s or perhaps even late 70s? It’s a mechanical wind up watch. Any help identifying it would be much appreciated! Thanks!
