Quantum travel mechanics & drive performance metrics on the wiki

Hello all, Wernstrom has made a contribution to the wiki regarding quantum travel, that we wish to make you aware of.

Given the recent changes to QT, he became curious and reverse engineered the quantum travel curves by extracting debug positional data. From this data, he can share:

  1. how quantum travel distance vs time works based only on a drive's datamined parameters;
  2. how to calculate time-to-distance for any drive for vastly improved estimations compared to what is on Erkul;
  3. a general performance metric that allows to rank the performance of different drives based on use case (e.g., planetary vs inter-planetary vs cross-system).

The model is here: Quantum Travel Mechanics

and the performance metrics are here: Quantum Drive Performance

Be sure to have a read.

He has put the detailed methods and research that underpin his model on his wiki profile.

As he doesn't have any social media accounts including on reddit i'm sharing his work more widely for him, he hopes this info serves the community well. He hangs on the wiki's discord if you want to thank him directly.

In these days of new content remember that the community wiki relies on you.

Everything on the Star Citizen Tools community wiki is added and updated by players, by you. There's no AI crap. All the screenshots or armor sets etc are uploaded by you. All the new articles are created by you. All the categories to navigate the wiki are created by you. So remember if you see something missing, add it, if you come across something that's not up to date, update it. The edit button isn't decorative. If an armor screenshot is missing, upload it. And even if you don't want to edit, you can still support the wiki by helping cover server costs, via https://ko-fi.com/starcitizentools or https://www.patreon.com/starcitizentools , every little bit helps, right now we're behind.

Thanks to every member of the star citizen community thanks to whom the wiki can exist, and thanks for making it what it is.

You rock.

🤟❤️
