Which game loop do you prefer and why, between salvaging and mining?

I'm new to the game, planning on getting my all-arounder Cutlass Black kitted out first, and I'm using that well for hauling. Then I'll purchase a more dedicated ship for the first game loop I really want to dive into. I'm trying to decide whether that will be a Prospector for mining, or a Drake Vulture for Salvaging. I realize I could rent one of the ships, but I don't think I can customize it, and I really like doing that. I also plan on doing whichever of the game loops I don't pick first later, so it won't be a wasted ship.

Which do you find the most solo fun, Salvaging or Mining?

Most fun looting locations?

I know people talk about best locations for loot a good bit.

What are you guy’s favorite looting locations as far as atmosphere, ease of access, or general entertainment?

Looking to mix things up a bit on the scavenging flow…

I’ve been hitting the OLPs tonight for the first time (I know - late to the party lol) and it was pretty cool.

The future of mission content in SC

I recently returned from a ~1-2 year break from SC.

When I got back into the game - so much actual content had been added (Onyx, Rock breaker, Lazarus, and then TSG, etc) that I had never experienced in SC before.

As someone who has been out of touch with development for the last 1-2 years, is this increase in more meaningful content a result of devs being reassigned from SQ42, better mission tools, or maybe some of both?

More importantly, do we think this level of content will continue or improve over the coming months/years?

How do we think instancing (if proven successful) will expand the possibilities of mission design?

I’m hoping the new Levski contracts in 4.9 play well - the narrative arcs in particular.

Edit: I’d like to add - there’s still plenty of room for improvement with the content I listed in this post, but it is leaps and bounds better than anything we had prior.

Onyx facilities alone got 3 of my friends who had been hesitant to join if for nothing but the incredible atmosphere in those facilities.

ATLS IKTI vs Super Heavy Armor

With the new super heavy armor incoming, I wanted to take a minute to look over some of the new armor’s pros and cons compared to the IKTI mechs.

Obviously some of these may change once it releases.

Cons: Only one weapon (IKTI has two) Slower open field movement (relative to Geo) Limited ammo (IKTI is unlimited) Likely easier to damage with small arms fire

Pros: Can fit through doors/elevators Can be looted from SoO lieutenants (hopefully) Doesn’t require entirely broken Wikelo mission Doesn’t have gaps in armor like IKTI (I think) BRRRRRRRRRRRRT Looks sick (ikti is a little odd lookin) Teammates can heal you (hard to heal through a mech suit)

Did I miss anything? Which do we think will be better for the upcoming Siege of Orison?

Will ship refining actually be useful?

I’ve been looking into the RSI Galaxy recently since it’s (hopefully) coming soon. Something I’ve been wondering is whether having the Galaxy refining module, or even having ship based refineries at all will actually be useful in any way.

I can take a load from a prospector and refine it in ~3-4 hours for ~3-4k in fees at a station with the current maximum yield.

Will a refinery ship process ore faster? You’d likely get higher yields, but since ships like the Galaxy can only run 2 jobs at a time, will it even be worth doing? At the current rate of ore refining, that would give the crew exactly 4 saddle bags to move every ~2 hours.

That, imo, does not sound like engaging gameplay OR good money making potential.

Have CIG discussed this somewhere that I’ve missed? What advantages/disadvantages will this have over regular station refining?
