The Dutch initiative Identify Me, which seeks to ascertain the identity of unknown deceased women, has identified a minor victim for the first time. It concerns a 16-year-old girl who was found in the German River Main in 2001. Her father has now been arrested for her death.

The originally Dutch police project Identify Me shares sketched faces of women whose bodies have been found in six European countries, many of whom are presumed to have been murdered. The majority concern unsolved cases: women who died 10, 20, 30, or even 40 years ago and were found in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain.
The girl whose body was found 25 years ago in the River Main near Frankfurt has now been identified. It is 16-year-old Diana. Her body was discovered after witnesses reported a ‘floating bundle’. The whole thing was tied to a parasol base, probably to serve as a weight so that it would sink.
Various signs of prolonged mistreatment and possible sexual abuse were also found.
Various tips from citizens put the detectives on the right track, which ultimately led to the arrest of a suspect on May 12: her 67-year-old father. The investigation is still ongoing.
