Don't use rock crawl mode in loose rocks

Don't use rock crawl mode in loose rocks

The consensus seems to be that all this trouble could have been avoided in a terrain response mode which prioritizes and expects wheel slippage. So maybe instead of using rock crawl, try mud and ruts or sand or grass/gravel/snow? Jump to 25 minutes in to see it work okay in rock crawl mode, but then stall out again when the tires are up against big rocks. It seems when the winch was needed is exactly when rock crawl mode should have done a good job?

prevent weak link failure in L319

Most people probably don't need these, but for those with larger tires who don't want to be stranded off road somewhere, they are a good bit of insurance! We've seen the posts in groups and forums about the rear toe link bolt shearing and the problems that can cause for improvising an off-grid fix. These brackets are a clever design and easy to install! Even if the bolt does snap, the bracket should hold everything in place long enough to get back to civilization, or at least function as a nice mounting point to trail-fix with whatever you've got on hand.

LR3 flying up a trail (then getting stuck)

The first couple clips in this video are fun to watch, it's great to see a Land Rover working hard like this, even if it does get stuck right away. The last clip in the video is also good, showing a controlled crossing of a rocky ditch. The middle of the video and primary focus might not be needed by people who are familiar with how to wind a winch rope, but it's nice to see the Land Rover performing on the trails that are difficult enough to require a winch now and then!

Long detailed explainer on trail-fixing air suspension for L319s

This video shows a basic overview of the components in the EAS (electronic air suspension) and how they are interconnected, as well as what 4 tools you need to keep with you to fix stuff on the trail in case of a failure. It's interesting for those who don't want to get stranded or in general might want to do some work on their own car. The EAS takes some getting used to, but after learning the basics, it's really not too complicated! The information is applicable to LR3, LR4 / Discovery 3, Discovery 4, and probably some Range Rover Sports from the mid 2000s which share a chassis and general suspension setup with the L319 platform.

Intro to GAP IID - LR3 suspension presets

This video is great for new owners who might want to get a bit of lift via software. The GAP tool adds a value to the factory baseline (higher or lower) so that the vehicle's factory 3 position ride heights are modified by the custom value. The video also shows how to set the air suspension to level out the rake or maintain an off road stance at all speeds.

LR4 driveline carrier

If you're experiencing any thumps when the transmission downshifts on the highway, or hear sounds and feel feedback in the steering wheel and floor, maybe the bushing surrounding the center bearing in your driveline is worn out? There are some backyard fixes with cable ties and bicycle tubes, but this aftermarket solution is really nice! The 2 minute video from the manufacturer is enough info to get it installed, but this half hour version shows every detail in case you're wondering if you can do it yourself.
