What’s your approach to seasonal scents?

As certain parts of the world move into spring/summer and others fall/winter, I thought I’d ask about your approach to seasonal scents.

Do you put away certain types during this time of year? Do you wear everything year round? Are there certain profiles you only wear during the heat or cold? Do you put on something reminiscent of the weather you want? Do you do spring versus summer, fall versus winter, or is it just temperature-appropriate scents in general?

What are you looking for in a spring or summer scent? What notes do you avoid? What notes have you never seen in a summer scent but wish someone would make?

These shipped quickly and securely. The house wasn’t a hit for me, but I think they produce artistic fragrances, they’re reliable, and they are botanical, which is something a lot of people want.

Suspended Water Lily: light, airy, kinda like fancy cucumber water. Clear spring water filtered by rocks, green reeds growing near the banks on the far side of a rich person’s natural pool. Flowers grow everywhere, organized chaos of pastel colors, but gardenia is the most abundant. About 50 degrees, not warm but not cold, everything new again. Gentle, floral, but not weak. The breeze carries the scent of the ocean and the crunch of seashells. If you like the idea of Great Lei from SAMAR but want something softer, try this.

Notes: Salt, Ozone, Melon, Ginger, Gardenia, Water Lily, Algae, Moss, and Roasted Seashells

Meteorite: for a botanical, this is pretty strong. This smells like hot stone and steam, but not in a bad way at all. The spice notes of pepper, saffron, and espresso lend the impression of heat, while the fir, frankincense, earth, and meteorite make it an atmospheric rather than a gourmand. The fir is a genius inclusion here, a silvery note that reminds me of precious metals rather than a forest because of how it entwines with the stone.

Notes: Cardamom, Black Pepper, Saffron, Meteorite Accord, Silver Fir, Black Frankincense, Oud, Espresso, and Smoked Earth

Waves Tulip: an airy, quiet floral. A little sweet from the coconut and ambrette. I wish the salt and grapefruit were stronger. The honeysuckle and coconut are the two strongest notes, but this definitely a delicate botanical. This is a good beach scent for those who like to keep their perfumes in a small scent bubble.

Notes: Salty Air, Grapefruit, Tulip, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Coconut Pulp, Teak, Ambrette

Romantix: like Dr Pepper without the sweetness. Very unisex, elevated, but I like my scents louder, to be honest. If this was 50% stronger on everything but the cassis, it would be an instant banger.

Notes: Black Cherry Cola, Cassis, Amber, Vetiver, Suede, Tobacco, Skin Musks, and Vanilla Absolute

Honey Body: I thought this was going to be a super cool spicy-Stoney honey scent. It is not. It is a sweet, slightly powdery, kind of stoney honey. Like a beehive in the rain amongst a hay field. I don’t get the pepper except for a hint at the end of a sniff, and the apricot not at all

Notes: apricot, sichuan pepper, tuberose, honey, petrichor, toasted grains, beeswax, musk

Ribbon Dance: a dry spice blend, a lot like Arcana’s Poudre Douce but lighter and with allspice instead of nutmeg. If you want to smell like a cross between the spices in a snickerdoodle and a cola, this is a good option. I already have Poudre Douce, though, and don’t need another

Notes: Cinnamon, Allspice, Cassis, Plumeria, Acacia, Broom, Jonquil, Olibanum, Opopanax, Caramel, Oud, and Sandalwood.
