I fear that meditation would make me complacent and weak.

I fear what if I become so detached with everything that I become content with weakness and become so peaceful that I'm not capable of violence when I need to protect my loved ones? I've always lived in constant mental agony because I always feel like if I'm not bearing any pain it would make me complacent, meditation makes me feel good, I love the happiness but It feels like like an escape sometimes from responsibility and pain.I feel like I'm running away from my duties as a man.
