I’m fishing a bay along Lake Ontario. It’s a great spot and I caught my first one of the season May 17 of last year. We’ve had lots of rain and cold days this May, I’m wondering if the bite is delayed because of this? We just had 3 days over 25 degree Celsius weather and tomorrow it’s going back down to 15. Is it just not warm enough?
My next door neighbour feeds the neighbourhood raccoons out her back door. My front door is in the backyard next to the feeding site. Cereal, tv dinners, bread, you name it, they are being fed it. This has also brought many squirrels and rats to the area. She lets the raccoons in her house too. Yeah, one of those people.
Her shed in the backyard is the home site of nearly 10 raccoons. These aren’t big backyards, maybe 50’ by 20’ something like that. When I moved in she said the other neighbours don’t like it but she simply would not stop even if I were to ask her to.
I’m concerned for my 7 year old dog. She’s a hunting dog and just wants to rip them to shreds which I wouldn’t mind but I’m concerned for the diseases that come with raccoons. I’m considering calling the city to have this taken care of if they would even do anything. It’s like a zoo with all the critters right at my front door. I need some breathing room for the animal that I love and am paying for.
It’s early morning and I can’t sleep because of this. I’m considering getting insurance for my dog just incase and that’s another bill I’ll have to pay. What is wrong with people? There’s raccoons, skunks, rats…like come on lady we have domesticated animals we care for, leave the wildlife alone and get a cat or something.
