Hi all. I have been watching YouTube videos of Mario Kart Wii gameplay recently and I want to get back into it, as it looks super fun (played around 2010-2012 or so when I was a kid). I don't know anything about how people are currently playing it though. I see that online play is still quite active, but is this done on the original Wii console? If so, is it done on custom servers? I imagine the official ones have been shut down. Given all these questions, where should I look for answers?

Is anyone else experiencing this? I am playing on Europe servers, zero build, ranked. I don't think I'm noticing this in BR. I have lost many fights due to teleporting enemies now (up close, not far away, which is also typical for battle royale). My internet connection is stable.
