Attending Second Hour Class Only

Hi all. I’m 19, living in England, and have been interested in the teachings of the Church for a while now. However, I have not yet had the courage to attend a sacrament meeting. My father is currently in hospital, and there is a meetinghouse relatively close by; however, I would only be able to attend from 10:45 onwards this week.

I am hoping to overcome my nervousness and am considering attending tomorrow. Would I be permitted to attend only the second hour? I assume this probably defeats the purpose of the 'sacrament'.

I am not keen on disrupting the first hour by being 45 minutes late, yet I believe attending a ward for the second hour at a non-local ward may give me the confidence to simply attend next Sunday.

Any advice is appreciated! :)

Advice on how to navigate parental opposition for wanting to learn more.

Hi all, hope you’re doing well.

I’ve been interested in the teachings of the church for a while now, and over the past few months I’ve become increasingly interested in speaking with missionaries at my local meetinghouse and learning more. When I told my parents about my interest, they didn't want to hear it, saying it’s a bad influence and that I’ve “lost the plot” for even considering joining what they described as a “cult”.

Despite attempts trying to explain that I am confident it isn't a cult, and that my interest comes from my own research over the past few months, they have remained firm in their view. I’m 18 from England, living at home. Does anyone have any advice on how I can navigate this situation, or if others have had a similar experience expressing their interest to parents, how you approached it?

I'd really like to attend, and I understand I'm old enough to make my own decisions - the last thing I want though is to jeopardise my relationship with my parents.

Thanks!

Unmarked/Complex Roundabout/Road Design Query

Hi there, I have drove past here a few times on lessons from another direction but I'm unsure on how to navigate this roundabout when approaching from the bottom junction.

There are 3 lanes: would the lanes include the 1st lane for turning left and the 2nd junction; 2nd lane for the 3rd exit; and 3rd lane for 4th exit?

Also, there is a junction on the bottom left of the image, could someone help me understand this road layout and its purpose if the roundabout goes into either road turning left or right? Apologies, may be a dumb question, however, just can't get my head around it 😂

Would a right turn be allowed?

https://preview.redd.it/2xdonuagfc1h1.png?width=1498&format=png&auto=webp&s=90031f7584d944c20a917f0cb8e5be60bcc175f1

Hi all.

During my lessons, I frequently drove on this 40mph carridgeway, featuring these central road markings that are quite narrow at serveral points during the stretch of road. I'm presuming these openings are to allow vehices exiting the dealership (as shown in the image) and other property to turn right when clear.

My thought process is stopping to turn right here would be dangerous, especially if there are oncoming vehicles due to blocking the right lane of an A road, potentially impeding traffic. Could someone please clarify whether it is legal and permissable to turn right at these openings from this direction?

Cheers!

Fitness Concerns

Hi everyone.

From a relitively stagnant and unfit lifestyle, fitness has become my biggest hurdle in the recruitment process. Somehow, I've managed to pass a mock fitness test, where I ran the 2.4km in 13:17. However, my best 5k effort is still around 39 mins.

I've estimated I'll have around 4 months until stepping foot at Halton - presuming I pass everything - and intend on training 4 days a week until then, sessions include a:

- Easy recovery run,

- Intervals,

- Moderately hard run,

- Long, slow run.

As a 18 year old male, realistically, how much progress would I be likely to make? And would that standard be sufficient for RAF fitness standards, or should I potentially delay my application?

Cheers.
