Stealthy Ambulance Conversion Camper?

We might not look like a stealthy camper, but we're finding that we've been having a great time with finding wide spots on turn outs, some parking lots, and some city parks - in addition to a few Harvest Hosts wineries and such. Just finished building our Ambo2RV.

Stealthy Camping?

We might not be what you think of for "stealthy" but... in addition to Harvest Hosts wineries, we've had really good luck at some city parks, wide spots on the side of the road in some amazing locations, and in a few parking lots. We're new to this, finding our way, and enjoying our version of camping in our new Ambo2RV.

Canvas Print Frame Ideas? This is what I made, what's better?

After procrastinating for way too long, I finally just tried trial and error, and made some frames for canvas prints that we like for our home. The prints are mostly 1" and 1 1/2" thick, which requires a deeper frame, at least in my opinion. What do you think of these? Anyone have ideas or suggestions for something better?

Ambo2RV finally converted - Maiden Voyage!

It took a LOT longer to convert this than I had anticipated, but it's pretty exciting to get it out on our maiden voyage, and so far, so good.

Bed Materials & Thickness in RV?

When planning how we wanted our beds in our ambulance conversion, we imagined using twin beds that would function as couches/sitting areas during the day, and as beds at night.

The idea of twin beds would still allow us to use the double back doors to the camper for entry doors, and full open when the weather was nice.

I started with 9" thick, multiple layer gel cool memory foam material, on top of the Froli spring system that would provide air circulation under the mattresses. However, once we got it all installed, we found that the seating was too high, and after cabinets were installed, taller folks would be in danger of hitting their heads on the cabinets above.

So, I had the mattresses cut in half, to only 4 1/2" thick - and still used the Froli springs under them. Surprisingly, the 4 1/2" thick mattresses were better for sleeping (both my, and my wife's opinion), than the 9" thick mattress. I think it's probably because the under mattress springs are giving a little, making the thinner memory foam material feel a little softer, and little more able to move with our bodies while sleeping.

I'm wondering if others have found things that make sleeping more comfortable, and any great ideas or solutions. I'm actually wondering if I should have cut the mattresses just a little thinner than I did - though at this point, we're pretty happy with where they are. Is anyone using a mattress thinner than 4" and still finding it comfortable to sleep on?

I still haven't found the right solution for making sitting comfortable - any of the "wedge pillows" than I can find to buy are too tall for the windows behind them, and not thick enough to provide back support on a mattress that is 32" wide. I know I could have custom wedge pillow made, but the more we use our camper, the more I realize that I don't want something that will be so large that storing it while we're sleeping is going to become a hassle.

Ambo2RV - Campsites, Boondocking, and Harvest Hosts

Here's some of my favorite photos of campsites and locations in our maiden voyage in our new camper. 5,000 miles through the western United States.

Interior Pics of Conversion of Ambo2RV

Interior is almost done, ready to take this rig out on it's maiden voyage. Large windows added to each side helps with interior light.

Ambo2RV in California

We finally are out on the road with our Ambo2RV rig that we converted. There are sure some amazing places along the coast to visit! Redwood trees, and ocean expanses sure make the Ambo2RV look small.
