Advice on these

Advice on these

Will you give me your experience with these? I currently use the Lego blocks to level my travel trailer, sometimes they are a pain trying to get the right number to get level and looking into getting these leveler. I also use a 24” level inside the camper to level it both way on my old camper. My new camper has the fold down stairs so it is much more difficult, putting stairs down check level, then put them up to add some legos and down to check it again.
Any advice is welcomed

Do I need tags and insurance?

I guess this comes down to a more state by state basis probably. But if I’m living in my camper trailer full time and stay at an RV park permanently over extended time like a year, do I still need to keep insurance and tags? obviously if I want to move the trailer, I need those tags and insurance, but if I’m just staying in one place, do they still require it?

No power in camper, where does this disconnected wire go?

Leaving tomorrow for a trip. Went to turn on the fridge to get it cool, no power. No lights, nothing at all. Checked the master power cutoff and the key is definitely in the ON position.

Poked around a bit and noticed this wire was just hanging free. I'm not sure where it goes. I would think it would go to the positive terminal, and it certainly is the perfect length to do so, but I wanted to check Reddit prior to doing that.

I have a Geo Pro camper. The wire is the one the arrow is pointing to. I have it tucked up in between the black wires for now so it's not touching anything metal.

Battery question

I've got a 100 LiOn battery in my camper, a charge controller and a 20 watt solar panel up top the roof. It sits for a few months between use. And it gets parked a long ways from a 120 V outlet.

Should I disconnect the battery, bring it in the house and put a LiOn trickle charger on it, or should I leave it connected in the camper and connected to the solar panel?

I ask this cause I want to take care of the battery, but I also would like to cover the solar panel so it doesn't cook out on the summer sun all summer.

Thanks.

First in My NuCamp 320 S

First trip in both the Jeep and the NuCamp Tab 320 S so far! Loving it so far!

First pic is Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Texas and the second is Red Rock Canyon State Park in Oklahoma. I bet you can not guess how Red Rock got its name! :)

Black Tank Fun

I’m in NW Ohio, and I have a 2021 Keystone Bullet Crossfire. We purchased the camper about a year ago and the blank tank has never emptied past 1/3. I’ve tried the calgon, bag of ice, “flush” adapter for the outlet, and every other “trick” in the book. Are there any businesses in the area that have a video scope and the means to clear the blockage in the tank when they do scope it? We religiously use very little TP, always RV safe TP, and more water than seems necessary when going. There’s no pyramid at the base of the toilet, it seems to be more near the outlet side. I’m tired of dealing with this and dreading it every time we go camping and just want full use of the tank again. With a family of 4, only being able to use 2/3 of the tank is not ideal and I’m at the point where I’m willing to pay to just have it fixed.

Water heater leaking

Hi we got a used RV and we don't know much on the repair side of things. It's leaking from the water heater and we checked the anode and it's in bad shape so we ordered a new one. Right now some water was leaking from the large hole. We wanted to check and see what causes and recommendations you guys could give us.

Camper Tongue Jack: Automatic to Manual

Bought an older camper with an automatic tongue jack but came across a junk battery.

However, I’m wondering if there is a handle adapter or a socket attachment that we can hook to the picture shown? Before we go ahead and buy a whole new manual jack.

Note: This is a current picture of our jack, the automatic portion has been removed, as we did not come across a bolt that we could raise the jack up and down by hand (or a socket).

We also have no aspirations of fixing the automatic portion.

I'm De-Winterizing and I think I have it mostly figured out. But what are these two ports below my water fill and my power cord?

What would you do with your RV if you need to go to a festival in the middle of your trip?

Hi,

I’m new to this sub, so if this kind of post isn’t allowed just let me know and I’ll delete it.

I’m a full-time-ish RV traveler and my partner and I are planning to head to Griztronics at the Gorge this year. We’ve been traveling around the area this month already, so we figured it would be fun to finally check this festival out.

Just wondering if anyone else here is going? Are you camping? This will actually be my first time attending anything at the Gorge, so I’d love to hear any tips, things to prepare for, or just what the overall vibe is like.

Also curious if any RV people go to festivals? How do you deal with your RV? And what should we pay attention?

Would be nice to get some tips in advance. Really appreciate it.

Western National Park Road Trip - Activity Recommendations

After graduating this summer, my girlfriend and are going on a 25 day camping trip before we begin our careers. We will be towing a small camper (Aliner Ascape) behind a 4Runner and camping most every night. Starting in ohio, we will loop through Yellowstone, Arches, Zion and many other parks before returning to Ohio.

We are both relatively fit 23 year olds with a sense of adventure but without significant hiking experience. Additionally we are looking to keep spending low as campsites, fuel, and food will already be rather expensive.

Please recommend activities for us to fill our days. Hiking trails, swimming holes, museums, restaurants or anything else would be appreciated. Attached are images of our campsite reservations. Note that those in red are not planned (banking on boondocking those nights) and the one in orange is a hotel.

Here is a map of the trip! https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1qVCer84yLi6bswDUdjsAB2DwB5ux4KU&usp=sharing

My camper is 30 feet including the hitch, can I fit in a site labeled 28ft?

I really want to join some friends on a camping trip in June, but the only large site they have left is a 28 foot limit. My camper is 30 ft including the hitch. I’m tempted to just attempt it but worry I could be refused or even not fit in the site. Should I risk it?

Boondockers Welcome question

New to RVing and just got a HH+BW membership. The past two nights we have hit a Boondockers Welcome location en route to our destination. Is it fairly common for the hosts to come out and share their life story? I know some may love connecting with strangers even for an overnight. But when we've had a long day on the road we just want to get things setup and relax a bit before doing it all again tomorrow. We did offer to pay for the electrical hookup offered, which they kindly declined at both locations.

If this is a pretty common occurrence for BW stays? If so, we'll just try to stick to HH locations, at least for the single overnight stops where our time is limited.

Emergency/Back Up Equip

Being new to RV’ing, I’m wondering what emergency or back up equipment (redundancy) is a must or good-to- have on every trip. Thinking more than a healthy tool bag (eg bottle jack, flat repair kits). On our shake down trip my trailer lights weren’t working brake lights weren’t working and I admit a panicked a bit thinking my 7pin on truck was bad- turns out the rv plug was loose. That got me thinking “what if” my 7 pin failed, do I have a solution? I’m looking for some ideas of smart back ups/redundancy that could help me out of a jam. Thanks.

Question about tow weight for smaller SUV/van

Hello! I’m a tent camper, but recently my wife and I stayed in a teardrop due to the temperatures. She has always tolerated camping but never really enjoyed it (due to the tent). She loved the teardrop and has been looking into getting one. My issue is that currently we have an ’08 Honda Odyssey and a ’23 Hyundai Kona (a smallish SUV, if you want to call it that I personally don’t think it should qualify haha). I also have a truck that I’ve been fixing, but in no way is it ready to be on the road or towing anything.

My question: I contacted a salesman who has a ’19 nuCamp Boondock Lite and says the dry weight is about 1,045 lbs. Some Googling tells me I should assume more than that, as dry weight is what it weighs off the assembly line, not what it will weigh loaded. Some posts I see say to stick with GVWR, some say to add about 20% more than dry weight, and the salesman is saying it’s going to be the dry weight. I’m just not completely sure what the best route is when estimating weight and capacity. I also thought about a pop up but everything I’m seeing on market place for those are in the 3k lb range.

Realistically, the Kona or Odyssey would only be used temporarily until the truck is ready. I’m thinking I should just wait on the truck, but my wife would like to get something before our next camping trip.
Until the truck is fixed, the maximum distance it would travel would be about 25 miles one way on mostly flat, straight roads.

Any tips/advice is welcome and appreciated.

Black Tank Question

We are new to the RV thing and I had a question on Black Tank. We took it on our first trip a few weeks ago, drained it and didn’t think anything of it. So we went back out this weekend and upon getting everything hooked up I checked the tank levels and it said it was already at 1/3 full. After the weekend it was saying 2/3 full. So drained it and then ran my hose down the toilet to get an extra flush. So I checked the level again and it still said 2/3 full? The gray tank is reading properly. It drained an awful lot as I drained the black tank before I emptied the gray tank. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks

Aftermarket Furion ready reverse camera question

I have a new 22’ pull behind camper that has the Furion rear camera mounting dock. I bought an aftermarket camera/ monitor on Amazon that’s “Furion ready”. It mounted perfectly in the housing and attached power with a nice adapter cord to the Furion power cord. Problem is that it doesn’t seem to be getting power to the camera. Is there anything inside the camper I need to do? I checked the fuses and there’s nothing labeled for a rear camera. I found 1 empty fuse position but I tried a fuse and still nothing. I even hooked up to the truck and put it in reverse. Any ideas?
