Any ideas on what this is?

Any ideas on what this is?

I’m really sorry about how bad this picture is, I was lost in the woods and being attacked by insects so it wasn’t top of mind. Anyways, I was hoping perhaps someone could tell by general shape of it? Maybe there’s not enough identifying features, I’m not sure. This was found in northeast Wisconsin. Thanks for taking a look!

Finds of the day!

This is a hardwood floodplain. Right now the stream is pretty wide, but by the end of the summer it will be mostly dried up. Found lots of Canadian meadow garlic (smelled really tasty), lily of the valley, marsh violet, toothwort and much more. It was cold and raining but I had made up my mind and nothing was going to stop me from seeing some plants!

Wha type of pine is this?

Located in northeast Wisconsin

Was wandering off trail and came across this. It stood out to me as the only trees that usually grow at this nature preserve are red cedar and aspen. This was situated in a clearing that separated the two types of forests. I was unable to find any similar trees nearby.

I don’t get why I’m still sad

I used to be a near complete shut in. Never went out and did anything, the only thing I left the house for was work. After a med dose change about six months ago (my previous dose was double the recommended max dose) I’ve felt a lot better. I’ve been volunteering a ton, so far 50 hours over the past month and a half. I really love what I’m doing, it’s at a museum. I’m also volunteering for a land trust to do conservation work. Im doing all of this and I’m planning on going back to school for what I’m really passionate about. it feels nice in the moment but when I come home I just feel… sad. I don’t know why I’m not happier now that I’m not inside all the time. Do I need to be around people more? I still have no friends though lots of acquaintances. I just don’t get why I’m not happy even after improving myself

I’ve been trying to manual prep some of my fossils. It’s a lot harder than I thought! I have some dental pics and some tungsten scribes. However I’m really worried about accidentally scratching them. I’ve removed some debris from them but I really feel like I’m just ruining them. 😭How do I avoid scratching them? What’s the trick?

Also yes I’m aware the rock I’m showing is particularly hard matrix. I was working on some softer stuff and was running into this issue as well
