Must be a faster way?

So I'm building a fireplace surround, first time making. It's going to house a gas pipe, meaning I need to make a groove 40mm wide and 50mm deep. I've started going at it with my 1/2 inch router with a twin flute bit.. it's taking an AGE.

Anybody have any faster ways of sorting this? I thought about making multiple cuts with my skillsaw then going down with the router but even that takes an age since I'm cutting into oak. Maybe a rip blade would help. No access to spindle moulder, do have a table saw but it's not the best and a bit flimsy. Any advice would be much appreciated as I've only started the first and got 2 more to do!

It's not going to be seen so doesnt need to be clean!

Many thanks for the advice.

New Meter Box

Hey. Was wondering if somebody could help me find a new meter box. As pictured.

Dimensions are

410 width

510 height

225 deep

Was hoping to keep the existing bracket and replace the external box

Twisted gate. Advice needed!

Hello! I've built a set of heavy oak gates for a friend of mine. My first set of double gates I've ever made.

So stupidly when glueing the joints up I haven't noticed the verticals out of square on one side. Unfortunately I noticed too late & there wasn't much I could do about it.

You can't really tell on the first picture but on the second you can see how far out it is. Probably about 30-40mm out. Silly.

I'll be honest, doors aren't really my strong point, especially doubles. Now worried about hanging them.

Third pic shows the hinges I was going to use. I've chosen them so I can adjust the hang on them to try to fix this. I'm thinking I'll need to bring the top hinge in more than the bottom on the twisted side, but in doing this I'm imagining I'll need to set the hinges lower on the posts to equate for the adjustment, so both doors line up level?

Really need to get this right first time as they've spent a good amount of money on timber & labour so far! Would appreciate the input & guidance from experienced gate/door fitters.

Thanks so much for your time.
