Being silenced for obvious reasons....
I backed this game. I followed it through years of delays, a failed Kickstarter, Brad McQuaid's death, and a development cycle that stretched longer than most people's marriages. I wanted this to succeed more than most people reviewing it.
It doesn't.
Not because it's unfinished — I knew it was unfinished. Early Access means unfinished. What I didn't expect is that after all this time, there would be no reason to care about anything happening on screen. You log in. You find mobs. You kill them. You log out. Nobody tells you why. No thread of narrative, no sense of place, no emotional hook. Just a grind loop dressed up in lore that lives on the website and nowhere in the actual game.
The world of Terminus has a genuinely interesting backstory. The Deicide War, the silenced gods, the Dragon King, the looming threat that nobody is coming to save you next time — that's compelling stuff. None of it is communicated in gameplay. Not in quests, not in NPC dialogue, not in zone design. It exists in patch notes and dev diaries while you stare at a mob camp with no idea why you're there.
When I raised this publicly, a Director of CS removed me from the Discord channel rather than engage with the feedback.
That tells you everything you need to know about how Visionary Realms handles criticism. The game has been in development for over a decade. Steam EA is not a beta test — it's a storefront. People paid real money expecting a reason to play. A disclaimer nobody reads is not an answer to that.
Not recommended. Come back when Terminus feels like somewhere worth saving.
