Hi all! I’m 36 and got diagnosed this week with POF. My dr gave me two options, HRT or birth control. I know I’m super forgetful and would probably be inconsistent with taking my meds so I opted for the birth control patch called Twirla. After reading up on this, I’m worried I made the wrong choice. Has anyone chose birth control over HRT? To be honest, I don’t even need birth control because my husband had a vasectomy a couple years ago. Just looking for some insight! Thanks!

Hi ladies! I’m 36 and have been on an IUD for the past 6 years. I had it removed back in November 2025 and got my period Feb - May of this year. My husband had a vasectomy 2 years ago and we were given the all clear, I was just so scared to have it taken out because it hurt so bad going in. Anyway, I’m 1 week late but for the past 3 weeks I’ve been experiencing hot flashes. I took a test just for peace of mind and it came back negative. I went to my dr and she had my thyroid tested but my lab work came back completely normal. She mentioned not needing my hormones checked because I had my period last month but these hot flashes are so often and intense, they wake me up in the middle of the night. I’m not on any meds, and I haven’t changed or started anything new. I guess I’m just curious what symptoms you were experiencing when you started perimenopause.
