Disabled Received a Non Renewal Notice in [PA]

This is long I apologize in advance,I just don’t want to forget anything an hope to get the best advice I can on what to do moving forward.

I’ve lived in my home for nearly 14 years.I’ve always took good care of the home.Never had any major issues.I had a health crisis a few years ago that left me paralyzed and bed bound. My husband is my caregiver,he takes care of me and our children. My landlord said she wanted to retire and is selling her houses. She set up a time it would be ok to show the house.I was uncomfortable having people coming in and out of my room while I’m bed bound but didn’t want to make anything difficult for her.I agreed for a guy to come look at the house to purchase with her husband…He walked in my room didn’t even say hello to me when he came to do the walk through and of course he’s the one that bought the house.I’m very good at reading people, there was something about him that just felt off to me.

The roof leaked last year and leaked through my sons bedroom ceiling,he hired someone to come do repairs the worker was only supposed to cut out the spot that’s damaged he reassured this when asked and explained about my breathing issues..well he decided to rip the entire ceiling out directly across from my room where I have oxygen and bed bound because my legs are paralyzed due to having Guillain Barre. My caregiver told him he’s going to have to just wait a little bit so he can get me moved somewhere else because of my breathing difficulties.I have collapsed lung and I’m a bad asthmatic. He refused and said he’s not paying these guys to just stand around and ordered them to continue.I had to get on prednisone and take round the clock nebulizer treatments for a few days because my asthma flared up and he could careless. Then after he repaired the leak damage in my sons room after 12 days of my son having to sleep on the couch while his workers were in there blasting music from 8am on he informed us he no longer wants my son to hang up his drawings on the wall he made in school…They were taped with scotch tape,no nails or damage was done.

He also said we can no longer have a above ground pool for the kids that once this one breaks we’re not allowed to put up another pool.My son is special needs. He’s severely autistic and swimming is his routine in the summer. He’s done it and looks forward to swimming every single summer. So not only did I have to tell him he can no longer hang up his artwork in his room now I have to tell him he also can’t have another pool.I have 2 conure birds, that’s all I can have because I’m allergic to everything else.Cant have a cat or dog.The cages are well kept up with,he seen the bird cage and said he’s adding a pet fee to the lease.Which was fine I understood that’s what some landlords do.

Next day he went to the basement and ordered his workers to rip an entire wall down never once told us what he was doing then left out the sunroom door so my caregiver couldn’t say anything to him.I became sick again. After he ripped a wall down in that room in the basement he locked us out of that room. Its a big storage room.My husband cleared it all out it stores all our holiday decorations but when my husband asked why it’s now locked and we have no key for it,he replied,we don’t need to have access to that room anymore? What?

It has just been non stop with this guy.He rides past the house a lot.We paid the rent these past four months he’s owned the house on time if not early but each month on the first he’s calling asking when we’re going to bring the rent.I just don’t understand why he’s like this we’ve always paid our rent on time so it can’t be our previous landlord saying we don’t pay on time because we most certainly do.I just don’t understand why he talks down to us and treats my disability like a huge inconvenience he knew I was bed bound when he looked at the house before buying.I admit the basement was a little cluttered because when my illness happened and my hospital bed and all my medical equipment was brought in all my furniture got put down there to make room.We since got a dumpster and got it cleaned out though.

Lastly we just got served with a non renewal of lease notice. My previous landlord turned down several buyers because they wanted us gone before sale of the house but this guy was the only one that would let us stay she said.Well now I received the non renewal notice.I asked my old landlord if she knew why he didn’t plan on renewing our lease and she said because he can’t make the upgrades to the house he wants to because of me and my families health problems so he’s not gonna renew my lease and throw us out then do it.

I’am just completely devastated my children go to a great special education program in the school district and I’ve tried to explain all this to him,I sent him a letter asking him to reconsider and showed him how nice I’ve kept the home in the previous years before my illness happened.I asked him if I can possibly stay and just buy a few more air purifiers to put in the home for when he rips more things down.Offered to pay an increase in rent but he can careless and never answered back.

I’m not at all a difficult person to deal with I just don’t understand why this guy is so hard to work anything out with.I’am absolutely terrified not being able to walk to go find a new house to even look at and my children losing their special education programs because this school district is so hard to get into.I’m so scared and worried an starting not to be able to sleep and that makes my neuropathy pain worse.I’ve never been thrown out of somewhere before. Is there anything at all I can do?I just feel totally overwhelmed and discriminated against because of my health problems.

Thanks for any help you can offer
