This might be my favorite room. I want a real life bathroom like this, with kind of a dressing room attached. Ignore the fact that there’s no sink. 🤣 She can wash her hands in the shower.
After obsessing over my new living room I tackled the kitchen. I don’t love it as much as the living room but there’s less space (I just used one of the smaller side rooms) and less things to decorate a kitchen.

For no good reason except she annoyed me with something she said on day 1, I can’t stand Sylvia. She won’t give me her photo for ANYTHING (I’m ready to get rid of her a soon as I get it, lol) and THEN the b*#%! kept pointing out and complaining about the single iron wall lamp I put in her house when I remodeled the interior. 🤣 So I showed her! You didn’t like the one lamp!? Enjoy being roasted alive and the high electric bill. 😆
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing forever, and had been kind of ignoring my rooms. I mean I did a sort of quick layout of a living, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen, but it was always just a bit of a thrown together hodge podge. I wish I had a before photo. Got obsessed and tweaked and fidgeted until I was satisfied. I could live in this room. What’s funny is I even developed a story in my head about different areas. The wall with the desk and the computer is a slightly different style, it’s because she inherited the desk from her grandmother, and it’s her grandmother’s embroidery and cross stitch on the wall above, so it’s her sentimental space. The area with the bike/sport stuff, she’s trying to be more active, likes to ride her bike and met a guy who’s into skateboarding so she got some gear to give it a try. 😆 she got most of her furniture on Facebook marketplace and she likes interior design. 😆 Kitties name is Patches and she got her at a shelter. She just got back from a trip and left her suitcase at the door and is procrastinating to unpack.
I posted this room in another ACNH sub before I did my final tweaks and I think I’m now officially done. Unless someone has some suggestions. Also I love the music I chose for the room Chillwave. Sometimes I just go in the house and chill listening to the song and staring at the space.
Anyone have this problem with games in general? I’ve done it with others, it’s not just ACNH. I’m sure it’s part of my neurodivergent brain but I’ll get to an addiction point with a game where it’s almost all I can do in any downtime. It get to the point where I’ll be playing and thinking “you’re not even really enjoying this right now” but then I’ll say “just one more in game day”, and I don’t actually stop until bed time or time to leave for work. It becomes a compulsion. Not even a month ago I wasn’t playing the game like I am now.
The way I play Animal Crossing now is I have a set of tasks that I want to do (mostly all in the name of getting all my nook miles achievements and collecting clothes and DIYs) and once they’re all done I time travel to the next day. And I do it over and over again. I’ve hosted some events and honestly I should schedule those in more, as it’s a break from the grind. I also recently focused on redecorating my living room and that was a fun diversion.
For now I’m going to attempt to FORCE MYSELF to only do 1 in game days and then TURN IT OFF. But in my experience with other things I get obsessive about this doesn’t last and I have to make myself go cold turkey. It’s like I forget that other things exist. I have hobbies, I’m living in a new place and want to make real life friends, I have books I want to read, I have skills I want to learn, and instead I lose myself from time to time in things like this. 😭 I mean thankfully I always get out of them, so maybe I should just embrace the hyperfocus cycle and understand I’m in one now.
Does anyone else experience this where it stops feeling fun and starts feeling compulsive? It’s less that I’m enjoying every minute and more that I feel driven to finish one more task, one more day, one more achievement. Is this something other of my neuro-spicy cohorts have noticed? And if so, have you found anything that actually helps besides quitting cold turkey? When it gets to the point where I start saying to myself “is this something you want to keep doing, and have people at your funeral say “man she really devoted her life to x game”, I know it’s time to disengage.
I could maybe just go to a treasure island and get all the missing DIYs and that will help a little bit with the urge to “complete” the game, which is the thing that I think gets me hooked. I’ve already finished the museum when I was playing compulsively years ago.
My boyfriend tries to tell me to not feel guilty for enjoying the game, but I don’t think he fully gets it. We are long distance right now, if we were living together I probably wouldn’t have gotten to this point as it helps to have someone as a distraction for these almost compulsions.
I just figured out amiibos though. 😭
