Tesla Plug and Charge Update Available
Hey fellow 2027 Bolt owners. Just got this today. The car is stuck on “update paused” so I can’t test it yet. I’m sure it will finish eventually.

Hey fellow 2027 Bolt owners. Just got this today. The car is stuck on “update paused” so I can’t test it yet. I’m sure it will finish eventually.
This morning Google Maps suddenly started showing my route in purple (when there’s no traffic). It is surpassingly annoying from a first world problem standpoint. Just wondering if other Bolt owners noticed it. The rich guys at the Polestar 4 sub were also talking about it.
Just noticed this showed up in the MyChevrolet app. Plug and Charge at ChargePoint. I’m not sure if it works with partners or just the ChargePoint branded units.
We just brought home on 2027 Bolt RS. Here’s our story. We bought a 2020 Ford Escape for my wife in Carvana last year, but after $3500 out of our pocket for repairs, not to mention $10k+ in warranty repairs, it was time to part ways, despite the negative equity. People worry about replacing batteries in EVs???
We had decided to get pretty much any EV. After experiencing many horrible dealer experiences including a manager in a MAGA cap laughing at us and a receptionist that let us stand in the lobby waiting for 15 minutes and then said “ok bye” when we said we were leaving, I called the rural dealer near my house where I had a friendly experience when looking for my first Bolt. It was during the stop sale so he couldn’t sell me one but the people were really cool, even though they mostly sell trucks and fleet vehicles. They had 1 Bolt in stock and we bought it.
Anyway, this post is getting long but I’ll make another post about my likes and dislikes after I’ve driven it for a while.
I might be better off posting this in the BlazerEV and EquinoxEV subs but y'all are my people since I have a 2022 Bolt EUV already. There aren't too many 2027s out there yet but I thought I'd give it a shot.
I picked up our 2027 RS last and night and have been messing around with route planning and the planner keeps setting these incredibly long stops (90+ minutes). I have driven the 2022 Bolt EUV to visit family in NY many times and ABRP usually says it will take 19.5 hours (which is pretty much spot on - it's a haul even though I mostly enjoy it). I entered the same address into the 2027 and it says 22 hours and I noticed many long stops at fast chargers. I've messed around with the networks and the maximum charging percentage (thinking it was always charging to 100%) but nothing helps. Anyone else have this issue?
I won’t give too much info about my ownership experience because it mostly mirrors another post earlier today except to say “Gordon” our 2022 Bolt EUV is the best car I have ever owned.
Charged it to 100% last night. It was by mistake as I charged to 100% yesterday for my wife to take it and she and her mom will sometimes decide they need ice cream from a shop 50 miles away.
Anyway, still predicts 250 miles on the GOM. This after many road trips with DC fast charging. I checked the Tesla app and even though they aren’t my preferred charging provider, I’ve charged with them 52 times. I also charge to 100% fairly often. Maybe 1-2 times a month.
I’ll also mention that he has normal Firestone All Season tires, not the “accidental drifting” low rolling resistance OEM tires. That is the only maintenance we have done.
Was watching the Apple TV series For All Mankind and noticed this Ioniq 5 in an episode set in 2012.
This is not necessarily an anachronism because the show is an alternative history and it has been established that electric vehicles were available much earlier in this time line.
I was fooling around with the built in route planner in my 2022 Bolt EUV because sometimes I need a good laugh. It used to route me to dealership chargers and recommend charging 2 hours to 100%.
Now it seems like it actually works?? I checked the route I just did between Atlanta and upstate NY and it picked most of the same stations as ABRP. It even displays the real time status for all the networks I checked including EA which is a station status that ABRP does not do. It also displays recent check ins from PlugShare. I am really surprised. I wish I had tried to use it (in parallel with ABRP) for my trip. I’d be interested to see how it works during an actual trip and if it is taking terrain and weather conditions into account.
Hey Bolt brothers and sisters. I am headed to the Hudson Valley NY from Atlanta again tomorrow in my 2022 Bolt EUV. Every time I have done it I have taken the western route up I77 and I81 and then across PA. I am very familiar with this route and the charging stations as I've done it back and forth probably 5 times. I sometimes stop overnight in Staunton VA which has a Best Western with 4 free Tesla destination chargers and free breakfast, my 2 favorite things. It is almost exactly the half way point for me.
I was playing with settings in ABRP and it keeps recommending that I take the I95 route instead and says it is an hour or more faster. Is anyone familiar with this route and the charging situation? I used to drive this way from NC to NY in a gas car back in the day and I remember sometimes running into traffic in Baltimore and DC. I'd be leaving GA around 9am. Part of me is excited to try a different route that could potentially be faster and part of me wants to stay with the familiar.
I have a 900 mile road trip tomorrow and I need an audiobook (I’ll switch to reading on breaks and while I’m at my destination).
Some of my favorites:
Sci fi like Andy Weir (Project Hail Mary, The Martian). I also read the entire Bobiverse.
Stephen King (especially his non horror. I loved 11/22/63)
Historical fiction or non fiction. Something like We Were the Lucky Ones
Post Apocalypse fiction but not prepper circle jerks. I don’t want to read 6 pages about what weapons they are using. I loved The Road, The Stand etc
I’m not sure where it fits but one of my favorite books is Cloud Atlas but I’m not sure for a road trip I want anything too intellectual.
TIA!
Just noticed this after a self inflicted range anxiety spiral. I was purposely trying to arrive low to recalibrate but my home exit was closed.
I arrived home with my knuckles white and LOW flashing on the screen when I noticed the car was still showing the range estimate in the charging menu.
