Merci!!

TOEFL overall scores

Hello guys!!

I just received my toefl scores so I am sharing them so you can get an idea of how the scoring works.

To tell a little bit more about my experience, the writing and speaking sections were really my weak spots. I trained almost every day for about 2 weeks to improve my writing. For that, I submitted several emails and academic discussions per day to Claude.AI so it could help me with the grammar and syntax errors. It was my major training material and it helps me improve significantly.

As a non english native speaker, the speaking section was the most challenging task. I had no one to talk to in order to train for the "Take an interview" and I have a poor memory so the "Listen and repeat" was for me a really arduous task.

I trained using a youtube channel named "Inspire SpeakEasy" since they published hundreds of pratices for both of these tasks.

Now, let’s give you more details on my experience during the test. I knew the reading and listening sections were going to be easy for me, I didn't prepare so I am not going to detail them. For the writing section, I think I got 9/10 sentences right at the "Built a sentence" task. Concerning the "Academic discussion" and "Write an email" tasks, I also believe I did pretty well. However, I used to train on an azerty keyboard and the one provided by the test center was a qwerty. I was really surprised and stressed because I didn’t know that. I accidentally inserted some undesired symbols in my responses but apparently it didn't affect that much my performance.

I thought I completely messed the speaking part (ok I know 3.5/6 is quite terrible but I was expecting for even worse). To be honest, I COMPLETELY messed up the "Listen and repeat" task since I wasn’t able to repeat a sentence properly. It was on a theme I has no vocabulary on (flower arrangement) and it was so terrible that I was just stopping myself midway at every sentence because I couldn't remember the rest of it.

For the interview, I was so stressed I was just stuttering and repeating myself without varying that much my vocabulary because the stress shot down all my knowledge lmao.

I really thought I was going to have 2/6 on this task and that I will need to retake the test but I had a good surprise!! 😆😆

Hope it will help you!! I'll try to answer your questions if you have any!
