How to help my 64yo dad transition from heavy welding/fabrication labor to teaching (or other ideas?)

Hi everyone,

My dad is 64 years old and has decades of experience in welding and heavy fabrication. He’s incredibly skilled, but as he's getting older, the physical toll of the manual labor is just becoming too much for him. I really want him to step back from the heavy lifting before he gets hurt or totally worn out.
I’ve been thinking about helping him transition into teaching.

The idea would be to set up a small training program here in India where he could teach basic to advanced welding to apprentices, hobbyists, or people looking to enter the trade, charging them a monthly fee.

I'd love to get some advice from this community

Has anyone transitioned from welding into teaching their own classes?

Are there other paths that would allow him to use his decades of expertise without breaking his back? I've briefly thought about things like QA/QC, consulting, or estimating, but I'm open to anything.

If you've helped an older parent transition out of a heavy trade, what worked and what didn't?
Any advice, suggestions, or insights would be hugely appreciated. Thank you!

I am looking for a therapist or a counselor in Goa, preferably in South Goa it is for a friend who is severely struggling with something very traumatic, and she needs professional help before it gets too late. Please suggest some option that are really good and will maintain the patient’s privacy and will be empathetic and understand. Genuinely seeking for your help, please please please suggest someone. Not too expensive..

Why do people act like this? No anger, just disappointment.

Context: a scooter parked blocking so much space for larger vehicles. Not enough space on the left and right for any other car to park.

PSA: Avoid Nimbuspost like the plague. Seriously.

I’m writing this hoping to save some of you the massive headache I’ve been dealing with. If you are looking for a shipping partner, run far away from Nimbuspost.

I’ve had a genuinely horrible experience with them both as a business owner trying to ship my products and as a customer waiting on a package. I know logistics options can be notoriously bad, but Nimbuspost is on a whole different level of terrible. I am not just venting about a single bad pickup either. It has been a cycle of repeated and exhausting frustrations.

Just to give you an idea of what you are signing up for:

They actually ask you to email images of each and every parcel you want to send. Who on earth has the time to photograph and email every single package when you are just trying to get orders out the door?

If you have unused money sitting in your Nimbus wallet and want it back, good luck. They flat out refuse to revert the unused funds.

Their tracking system is completely flawed. There are no real time updates for the customer at all, which just leaves people in the dark and makes us look bad.

When things inevitably go wrong, there is no proper support to help you out. You are completely left hanging.

Running a small business is hard enough without your shipping aggregator actively working against you and draining your time.

Do yourself a massive favor, skip the frustration, and go with literally anyone else. Please.

Insane comments on Karan Malik’s videos for eating beef. inframe: karan malik

Karan Malik is a food blogger who goes around trying food and currently he was in the USA. And people are literally threatening him. No matter what you do and the choices you make, this is not funny. For eating beef? You will un@live someone for eating beef? Is this what India had reduced down to?

Hi everyone.

I’m a local from Panjim and I’ve been running a small home grown candle business for a bit. I’m really wanting to get into the wedding season this year with these hand-poured floral favors and mini bouquets (pics attached).

I do all the pouring and packing in pouches myself, we do custom stickers etc and the couple would just need to pick up the order from me in Panjim once it's ready.

I’m honestly struggling with how to let people know I exist without being annoying or spamming ads everywhere. I'd love some local advice:

  1. For those getting married in Goa, where do you even start looking for return gifts? Is it just endless scrolling on Instagram, or is there a better way to find local makers?

  2. How do I actually get on someone's radar early enough? By the time I hear about a wedding, they’ve usually already bought their gifts.

  3. If you were looking for favors, what would make you actually trust a local independent creator over just ordering something generic in bulk?

I thought about listing myself on sites like wedmegood or weddings de goa, but wanted to get opinion before i do that.

Just trying to figure out how to grow this properly without losing my mind.

Appreciate any tips or leads you guys might have!

Sincerely

MB

TL;DR: Local Panjim founder of a small candle business is looking for advice on how to break into the Goa wedding market with handmade floral favors. Seeking tips on how to reach couples early in the planning process and build trust as an independent local creator without relying on spammy ads.
