I (don’t) have Wood… but would love some! (And copper too)

Hey all! Just started an SS2 playthrough for the first time, and so far I’m absolutely loving it!! I think I’m nearing the end of the Chapter One missions, so I've made decent progress.

Right now I’m really struggling to keep up with the wood and copper demands of my settlements though. I’m playing on survival, so I went with the default SS2 difficulty settings, so I’m managing each category of resources at the component level.

A few points to help give some context:

- I have a good mix of factories at all but one of my settlements. I’m producing building supplies, organics, and machine parts.
- I have three lumber mills to convert my excess steel into wood
- I’ve bought all the wood priority shipments from my lvl 3 caravans. I went through 3k wood in a matter of a single in-game day! But now they are out of priority shipments of wood.
- I have their trading set to receive shipments of both copper and wood
- My charisma isn’t very high, so my settlement cap is 14.
- I have 9 settlements (sanctuary, Abernathy, zimonja, taffington, oberland, starlight drive in, grey garden, hangman’s & sunshine tidings). I didn’t build at Red Rocket so as not to overload that area and risk crashing.
- My typical build strategy in a new settlement is settling, then setting up a caravan station first, then getting 2 farms, a watershed, and a power plant. Then I build factories and a few shops. I typically will build my house plots so they are ready for new settlers.
- Most of my settlements have factories, but Starlight Drive-In is all shops as my commerce hub, and hangman’s alley I gave to those NPCs, so it’s on autopilot with a mayor.

But no matter what, my settlements are just sucking down way more wood and copper than I can keep up with, despite my scavenging and spending tons of caps on shipments.

Am I missing something, easily? This is my first time playing SS2, so I’m sure I’ve missed something vital; I just can’t believe my settlements gobbled up 3k wood in a single day…

Any advice from you vets out there?

Edit 1: Fixed some typos

Edit 2: Not sure why it's downvoted? I don't have any spoilers; I gave a lot of detail in my question, and I think the post follows all the rules. Did I mess something up?

Van Richten's Tower v2.0 | 20x30 | By DM Andy Maps

Hey everyone! I am really excited to share with you my updated Van Richten's Tower map. I created my original rendition over 5 years ago, and so it's a great milestone marker for me to look back and see the map progress I've made over the last 5 years.

I've included the following levels with this map:

  • Exterior: Full tower view, including the magic sigil on the door and the small island. I also added a broken-down dock to indicate there might have been a small boat dock here at one point.
  • 1st Floor: Includes the four cley golems, which I made as knights, as I felt it matched the gothic aesthetic
  • 2nd Floor: With piles of books and rubble, I added a stone bust lying on the ground to use as "Buster" from the Lunch Break Heroes guide
  • 3rd Floor: I added the ruined crib as called in out the CoS: Reloaded guide
  • 4th Floor: The cozy room that either Ezmerelda or Van Richten (Depending on your game) chooses to hang out in. (Also makes a great little player base)
  • Ruined Tower: In the event your players are careless and collapse the tower, you can use this version!

Additionally, I've included six different "Color Mood" versions of Ezmerelda's Wagon.png file so you can remove it from the map (In case it blows up or you just have it elsewhere) or use it on my other maps in case you want to move it around.

This map was created for a 20x30 grid.

You can download the pack for free over on my Ko-Fi link here. This download includes:

  • All of the levels I mentioned above
  • Grid / NoGrid overlays
  • Ezmerelda's Wagon .png (Six different color versions)
  • Two weather overlays, which you can add to the exterior map (Rain and Fog). These work great with a foreground layer in your VTT so you can place tokens under the weather layer.

Download this for free here!

I hope you enjoy this updated version of Van Richten's Tower!

Cheers friends,

Welcome to the Dwarven Anvil! Inspired by the location from Ghosts of Saltmarsh, this map features a small town smithy with a well-crafted Dwarven Anvil. Making fishhooks, horseshoes, and the occasional weapon, this smith serves the coastal town with many work orders a day.

Additionally, there is a small shrine set up to honor the deity of crafting next to the house.

Attached you'll find both interior and exterior views of the anvil.

Map details:

Grid: 30x20
PPI: 136

I also have gridded versions as well in the .zip file. You can download both the grid and nogrid versions for free form my Ko-fi page.

You can download both the grid and the no-grid versions for free from my Ko-fi page.

I hope you can make use of this map in your own games!

Cheers,
