Advice Needed !

hey everyone

so im 25M and currently have around 35 lakh PKR just sitting in a normal savings account doing basically nothing. i can also invest like 1-2 lakh per month going forward on top of that.

everyone keeps telling me buy property or buy gold cause thats where the real returns are but theres a catch, theres a decent chance i might need 50% or more of this money within the next year. could be for postgrad abroad (not 100% decided yet) or could end up being for marriage instead lol. so this isnt really long term money right now, its money that needs to not lose value but also not just rot in a bank account either

so yeah property is probably out cause i cant just sell off half a plot if i suddenly need cash. gold seems tempting for the returns but im a bit iffy on the security side and also if i need to sell it in a bad month that could hurt. and if the abroad plan actually happens i think ill need the value in USD terms not just PKR preserved which complicates things more

things im trying to figure out

  • for the part i might need in the next 12 months, what should i even put it in, is it just T-bills or some govt backed savings thing or is there something safer thats still somewhat liquid
  • should i be dollar hedging some of this now given the abroad possibility or am i just overthinking something that might not even happen
  • for the monthly 1-2 lakh, should that go in the same safe bucket or since its smaller and ongoing can i afford to take a bit more risk with that part

just want some honest advice from people who've actually dealt with this kind of situation. can share more details if needed, thanks in advance
